I'm temporarly using my father's laptop. It was vista. If I was there, I would of never let him buy it but I was in another country and he needed it fast.

I've cleaned about like 15 suspicilous files and still at 20% or so. Last time I got blue screen on 95% and I don't believe in coincidence

Reformatting is something I will NEVER do, I have so much crap on my comp it would take weeks to make copies and probably (maybe) thousands of CD's.

I don't think antivirus' companys make viruses. Do you know how many people are there in the world, which wants to f*ck up your computer just for fun? To connect to your internet and download stuff, so when you get a bill its bigger for 5000$, and how many people put keyloggers around? If you use paypay or pay bills over internet, they get your password and take your money. There is milion resons why people make viruses. I've seen a lot of people which lost all money because of this.

I know a lot of people don't like it but I use AVG 8.5 FREE + Spyware Doctor (Google Pack edition) + Comodo Firewall. Does the job for me.

And I would strongly suggest getting yourself an external memory (1TB), there's a few for sale.
Usually the 1TB memory can go from $150-$200 but in some stores like BJs or maybe Walmart, it can go for around $100-$120. (The shitty, slow ones of course).

If you really want something you will use for a long time, I would suggest investing your money on this:

CMS Products V2 Desktop Backup System 1.5TB

disagree...that was the best anti-virus program i ever used, it picked up and actually got rid of all the stuff AVG didn't...

i don't use anti-virus software except whats on vista already. gl with your virus, i don't have a ton of compy knowledge but if they virus was smart you'd probably have to delete the file directly in the system or simply reformat....

All it did for me was block everything and I often had to close it down just to play a game or whatever. Never had soooo many problems then I did with Kaspersky and I had a full official version, not a crack. To me it was crap and I know alot of people who hate it too >.> To each their own I guess.

that doesn't sound like it was a problem with its anti-virus capabilities though. yeah you have to work and tailor it so that it doesn't interfere with certain things but once you go through the settings, like i said, its anti-virus and scanning abilities were the best i've ever used.

It's because you don't know how to use it. You had to add exception, remember patterns, etc... The next time it won't show up.
