Sleep Paralysis

So I just had one of the scariest moments in my life.

I was having this dream, I forgot what, but suddenly this little pale girl popped up next to my bed and said something like hello or something, then asked what I was doing here. I could have sworn it was so real because it looked like my room and everything is exactly how it is, except for this hallucination. I was freaked out so I tried to move away, but I couldn't move a muscle. It felt like something was holding me back, and the harder I fought, the harder it pushed me down.

Anyways, I woke up immediately after and couldn't go back to sleep since (it was my nap time).

I researched around a bit and apparently I experienced this phenomenon of Sleep Paralysis. I've had this type of dream/nightmare before. Everytime I couldn't move and everytime the setting was the place I was sleeping at. I hallucinate, seeing people or things that shouldn't be there.

Cray shit, anyone else experienced this?

I'm pretty sure sleep paralysis is when you actually wake up and can't move for a few seconds. Your brain releases chemicals while you sleep to help keep you from flailing your limbs all over the place while you sleep. Sometimes (I haven't researched it) I guess it doesn't get flushed from your system in time, like when your awoken suddenly, so you wake up and feel paralyzed for a few seconds.

You didn't actually wake up, so just sounds like a weird dream.

A lot of times in my dreams, if I'm running from something, I feel like I'm being sucked down against the ground and it makes it really hard for me to run very fast.. it's fing crazy scary.

I'm no sleep paralysis doctor, but I did stay in a holiday express last night.

I'm pretty sure I was awake too, because I could move my eyes, just couldn't move my limbs. It was scary as hell because of the hallucinations. Apparently, my imagination likes to scare me =[

Me. The first time, i saw a figure in front on me and felt something touching my hand.
It's like being awake, but your body isn't. :p
A good tip to 'survive' to that is: Don't be scared. Stay calm, and in no time, it will gone.
People say something like move your tongue or your eyes idk, to wake up lol

I used to wake up face down in my pillow unable to move. I thought i was going to eventually suffocate which only made me breathe harder and start panicking...eventually i was able to turn over...

Also i've been stuck in that weird half sleep half awake phase and couldn't move while something insane was playing out next to me...

life is weird...

Same thing happens to me when im napping in the middle of the day. Ill get woken up subconsciously but I can't move anything. Like i can hear people around me and feel if someone touches me, but can't move. Def not good for falling asleep in class, lol

Yea... I watched something about that on National Geographic. Just a lot of other people hallucinate aliens, and then they think "little greens" kidnapped them....
But I would be so freaking scared if that happens to me, I would die because I wouldn't sleep at all :D Lol someone told its Alma xD
Now seriously, you can't move because when we are in RAM fase ( fase of sleeping when you dream) our body shut down all moving "options" because when you dream you could start hitting around and hurt yourself, that's why you can't move and that girl was just a dream, just some kind of realistic dream. You can find a lot of documentary movies about that, but I can't imagine how scared you are, I didn't want to go to sleep even after movie xD

I've experienced it once I think, I woke up late at night and saw a woman's head at the end of my bed, it was just the head, no body attached what so ever, she was pale and had really long hair that cover most of her face. then the head turned around facing me and said "you're not gonna get away". Ya and guess what I can't move at all, also felt like being pressed down upon. SO basically I close my eyes and pray for it to go away, the next morning I wake up normally feeling really tired, like I havn't slept at all.

anyways that was scary

My superb peace of mind keeps nasty hallucinations and dreams away. Kinda boring actually, haven't had unpleasant dreams in like 15 years.

But this happens to me WAY more. Scared the shit out of me the first time it happened, because the dream/whatthefuckeveritis was of people running into my room to rob it and I knew if I made a sound or moved that they'd kill me. I think my cat walking into my room triggers it :P Because he pushes open my door and runs in.

How old are YOU, good sir? Most people my age (18-20, college basically) take naps all the time.
