I think schauen is only used in the direct meaning of looking, as in with your eyes. For the looking you mean I think you should 'sehen'. Es sieht gut aus, aber nicht super.
Although people think German and Dutch are practically the same, they're not, so I'm not sure this is good, I only have limited German education myself.
