iPod went into washing machine

:(

Apparently I left it in a sweater and my mother didn't check it so it went into the washing machine.
There's water under the screen and I'm pretty sure it's broken beyond my repair skills. So my mother already brought it like "we were stupid". Which is code language for: "I'm not getting you a new one" so I need good tactics to scam a new one from apple.
Will it always be obvious that it broke due to water damage? I don't think the warranty covers water damage so I also need another feasible excuse. Like maybe that I got electrocuted when I touched some fence and it fried the ipod? (Makes me think of my dog who pissed on a line with electricity on it, good times)
Anyways, how do I get rid of all the water inside? I'm gonna lay it in the sun tomorrow, any other tactics?
My bro ruined his graphic card cause his retard watercooling was leaking and he still got a new one. (The graphic card turned green from the colored water and they still gave him a new card)
Anyone know how thoroughly the ipods are checked? Do they just skimp on repair costs and send a new one once they know for sure it's dead or do they tear it apart?

I also know someone who put her ipod in the washing machine and it worked afterwards when she put it on the heating for two days, so I'll do that too.

save your penny's and buy another one, can't really do anything to "scam" one for free.

all ipods for quite a few generations now have water detectors there is no way to get it replace although they will take it off you and give you a discount on a new one, happened to my mate

the best thing to do when any electric device gets into contact with water is to let it dry for a 3 days or so period. generally speaking water wont affect electric devices unless there is electricity on the circuit.

btw if you tried turning it on as soon as you got it and was still humid/had water, you = farked it up

..... oh and i think apple uses water seals, so they will know.

Well, i've heard a story. Somebody i know had the same, and gone to the MediaMarkt (you must know that store, since you're dutch). They told him it was water-damage, so they couldn't do anything about it. (for the next part make sure you can't fix it). He put it in something like a microwave (real microwave will explode it), so the iPod got a short-circuit(?). He went to the MediaMarkt again, and he got a new one.

Try putting it in a small container filled with rice for a few days. The rice will absorb the moisture inside. My old cellphone fell into a pool a while back and the rice fixed it.

My mom didn't tell me about it until I found the ipod and noticed it didn't work. So I'm guessing it's broken for good because I tried switching it on :(
It sucks that the nearest ipod store is like 45 min away, but I will visit them next time I go see my brother.

I was expecting that the apple store would be in my 'city' but it wasn't. :(
Holland is actually 3 hours big!

That sounds bad! Why not call up an ipod store and ask?

try putting it in a sealed container with silica gel packs for like a week, might dry up the water.

I think you should call apple stores and say to them different excuses and see what they say.

Like, i dropped it into a puddle can i get a replacement, keep ringing back and ask with a different excuse that involves water till you find an excuse that they will replace the ipod.

Maybe people can help you with examples with water lol.

mines: i decided to go swimming with my ipod, i didnt know it wasnt waterproof...lmao jk
