My First Driving Lesson

Im going to learn how to drive, and I have my first lesson in less than an hour, and tbh im shitting it. Obviously worst scenario is crashing, but im so scared of stalling the car like in the middle of a busy road or something, and have all these cars stuck behind me beeping there horns.
Any tips that will help me? Ive checked some YouTube vids on the basic stuff, like which pedal is which etc

Just go for it. Everyone had to learn how to drive so if they can't take it to wait for someone, then they're just plain assholes. But to be honest, I don't think he'll let you drive on a busy road right away. When I had my first lesson we went to some backroads etc where it's alot quieter.

Just relax - there's no way they'll let you drive on the busy roads right away. Like Moshe said, they'll probably bring you to a quiet place first and then let you drive around slowly so you can get used to it.
Besides, people recognise tutor cars, and they'll be sure to keep their distance. There will always be assholes that will try to get on your nerves, don't let them. Everyone had to learn it.
Don't be too afraid for crashing either, the instructor isn't sitting next to you for nothing, even if you didn't see something, they will.

Wish I still had stick shift. Anyways, when you first start out from a stop, make sure that you are giving the car a little bit of gas before you release the clutch. Once you get used to it, it's pretty easy to figure out how much gas, too much and you'll either peel out and/or stall, not enough and you'll stall. Once you get used to it, it's really easy to drive stick.

you'll be lucky to go to some empty parking lot first.
when I first started to drive the instructor just told me to go out onto the local road and I thought i would piss my pants. then only like 3 days later he made me go on the freeway

Ask to drive in a graveyard, theres nobody there that you can kill. If you have to drive stick, well good luck, why havn't you ever driven with your parents? I learned from them before I even went to school for driving.

why do all you americans get lessons in an automatic
in holland we all learn to drive in a manual shifted car. only if you have some handicaps or so you'll get driving lessons in an automatic.

Chances are you will be taught driving in a residential area first, instead of going to the highway.
Driving automatic cars isn't so hard, but manual cars are pure sux0rz.

automatic is more popular in america even though manual has better gas mileage. Also because almost nobody knows manual selling a manual shift car in america is a pain the ass

As Jstar said, everyone in America drives automatic. I personally know how to drive manual, but there aren't very many available.

if you get driving lessons in an automatic, are you allowed to drive a manual car then? here you get a note on your drivers license that ur only allowed to drive automatic cars.
lessons in a manual allows you to drive both

no theres nothing like that in america. Here probably 95% of the ppl drive automatic and dont no anything about manual. If someone wanted to buy a manual shift car they can buy it and no one will care but they'll need a friend or someone to teach them

I just started driving lessons myself (well, i had 9 lessons so far).
For me, i started by only steering and the gas, the driving instructor did the clutch / brake / gears.
Worst case i had so far, is letting the engine go off in the middle of a crossing of roads, the guy acros the road went all leaning outside of his window, sounding the horn and shouting

guess he dint see the big ass "L" on my car.
And lol, i went on the freeway the second lesson >.<
Point is, have some fun in it, and nothing can really go wrong

there are always a lot ppl who suck wayyy worse then you

and they succeed sooner or later aswell, and they dont kill people or crash cars

driving is easy, don't think too much. i found the hardest part was keeping a steady speed at first.

On my very first driving lesson they told me to drive around on neighborhood roads. The only thing is I live in a big city so it was busy traffic everywhere. I think everyone in the car with me shit their pants at least once by the time it was over because I had no idea how to control the gas pedal, brake or steering wheel. I'm lucky to be alive

Sorry to sound ignorant.. but surely its quite easy to learn to drive with automatics.
The hardest thing for me, and pretty much everyone else i know, was getting good at clutch control, as when your new everything is harder at slow speeds (have to think about clutch at the same time as whatever else). Past 10mph was just easy, once you remember the mirror sequence.

Like stated above by numerous people there's not really a lot to worry about here.
Doesn't matter if you stall your car or frak up and almost hit someone, happens to
everyone and anyone who says that its never happened to them? is lying
Hell i took around 40 lessons and still failed my first time when i took the
test. Took me 4 more lessons and then BANG....i passed
That was 8 years ago and i haven't looked back since.

Yeah I got mine since ~3-4 weeks now. Been driving my dad around if we had to go somewhere etc. So I get some practice. I learned a manual too but later I want an automatic TBH, it's alot easier so why take the hard way >.< Had about 30-35 lessons (1 hour each) and passed my exam the first time
Hope you did well Puma ^^

Wow, you guys get a ton of lessons. I had five 2 hour lessons and 4 days of theory. Passed the test first try with only 2 mistakes.
