About 3 hours ago i was in a car accident, it was raining and the guy in front of me stopped short for a cat or some animal that no one clearly wanted or they'd be taking care of it, and my wheels locked up as i braked and i tried to avoid the accident by turning right, but i kept slidding and skidding and slammed into a parked car. The asshole who stopped short for the animal that DIDNT EVEN CROSS! sped away and left me there to wait for the dude who owns the other vehicle to come out. I was going about 30mph so im ok case you guys were wondering but my cars totalled. The other car, well truck is fine my car went under his so he just has an F'ed up rear bumper. I was on my way home FROM THE AUTO SHOP when this happened, its back at the shop now were my mechanic will deciede its fate. im feeling pretty bummed, i mean i only have one car and dont have the cash for another, anyone else have an experience like this?
And please if your just gunna post something along the lines of owned and/or pwned plz do so in an epic manner so your just not the idiot stating the obvious that i got owned...

Dude, where do you live?
I have this paint blemish and dent in my rear bumper and quarter panel, I need it replaced and I was hoping someone would fail to break or follow to close and pay it for me. Cuz I know the minute I pay and get it repaired, someones gonna help me out after the fact

Dang that sucks.
My family and I were on a road trip from our house in Tennessee to visit my mothers family up in MN for her parents 50th anniversary. We were like 2 hours away in Wisconsin it had just started raining and we were driving down the interstate when a semi drifted into our lane forcing our 15 passenger van to lose control do to the wind draft, hydro planning and the shoulder not being there.
Our van was totaled and the Semi got flipped on it's side. My little brother's face was covered with blood steaming down his face cause he was sitting right where the semi and van hit.
Oh and this was all 2 weeks before my Sisters wedding.

Broken leg. Serious scars on his face but other then that, yeah. Which is incredible cause accidents like that between a Semi and 15 passenger van have a crazy high casualty rate. There was like 10 of us in the car and we're all fine.

Can't agree more. Best advice. Wait until its someone else's fault. The insurance company may deduct some because of the pre-existing damage but its a lot less than the amount you'd pay to get it fixed.

Lesson learned: get proper insurance for next time.
I'm glad car and health insurances are obligatory in the Netherlands.

Considering proper insurance costs around 3 times (about £5000 more in my case) the amount of a young person's car normally, i dont think it really would of made it any better.

Well for the UK at least.

lol the other day I was in the car with my dad and we were on a very busy round thingy (idk how it's spelled) and suddenly this guy on a fancy car comes in really fast and starts going around the cars and stuff but then a jeep came from the left and had to stop because of the guy in the fancy car, then the guy on the jeep was pissed off and started bipping, the guy in the fancy car was obviously drunk/high because he stopped, came back, started yelling at the guy in the jeep, the jeep guy started driving away, the fancy car went after him, stopped next to him, got out of the car and was like "OFMGAJFKAMFOAFUUUUUU" all crazy and stuff, then the jeep guy drove away, but the other guy was still there so everyone got mad because he was making everyone waste their time since he was right in the middle of the road so everyone started complaining and he was like "**** YOU ALL" then he got in the car, drove away and put his hand out of the window (lol you know doing what), and everyone was very nervous after that, so my dad kept driving until this guy suddenly comes out really fast (we were in the right place and we had priority) and then he had to stop really fast, he managed not to hit us but he was like 3cm away, I'm glad it wasn't raining! But then my dad has a bad temper and he was already nervous because of the crazy guy before so he was about to get out of the car and I was screaming: DAD KEEP DRIVING! and he was like yelling at the other guy for 30 seconds saying all the craziest words he knows and then he drove away.
All this in the middle of one of the most busy round thingies on my city. Crazy day.

u need ABS
Well, it was kind of your fault. It sounds like you might have been in a two lane road or a parking lot, and driving 30 in those places (i dont know what the driving conditions/speed limit was) is probably not a great idea. Plus, you should have left some safety distance between you and the driver in front of you.
Yeah, its a good thing you werent hurt. Or the object you hit wasn't a person or an animal.

it was raining, one lane each side, parked cars either side, guy slamming on brakes he was going 30mph i was going 30mph about 2 car lengths between, just that the tires locked up due to conditions, if it were sunny my car woulda stopped.
im just grateful no one got hurt, as cheesy as it sounds its true, soon as people start getting involved in the damage shit gets serious fast.

Well my iv been helping my best mate with his car sorting out the body kit to fit properly and all to help with it been a lil too low he got new rims. he spent a good week restoring these rims to look new, few days later he is round mind they look good i seen them when we went to pick them up major improvement later that day on the motorway one of the wheels flys off...either someone tried to rob them or someone from work was playing a joke.
But you can imagine 70mph a wheel flys off, he was lucky he managed to pull over before it came off but thats got death written all over it if he didnt pull over.

yea thats crazy i couldnt imagine having my wheel roll by me on the highway if it ever came off, i just have to spend the next month saving to get another one, im not gunna go to a dealership and get a new one cuz i dont like making payments id rather just buy a used one flat out and be done with it. well i suppose i could get a loan but then id be making loan payments which IMO are worse than car payments lol

is it me or it sounds like OP is bitter because the guy/gal in front sudden brake?
lessons to be learn:
1. you should increase the distance between your vehicle to the vehicle in front
2.

1. To what extent though? Till the point where you can't even see cars infront of you? I was in the normal range for normal people driving, its just you don't know the condition of the driver infront of you, i know. I was no where near tailgating or "on his ass". Aaaand its
ILLEGAL in the state of MA to stop for crossing animals, as cruel as it sounds its true, and for this very reason.
And 2. i really wish i could done that, but my car was wedged under his, i wasn't weasling outta this one lol, plus my cars not drivable.

Well there it is. When weather conditions suck, its always sensible to increase safety distance and always drop your speed

The reasonable distance is 4 seconds away, or one car length.

If there is ever an animal in my way (besides my own or my neighbors) I make no effort to avoid it. Flatten that stupid shit. I ran over a baby deer once, good thing I got it before it grew and could have damaged someones car.

Sounds like you could have done with some electronic stability control.

one car length sure as hell isn't 4 seconds.
