You haven't been reading Nitro's posts really. Perhaps at some regions of the world there are a lot of people visiting it, but there also other regions where people don't.
From what I've seen in internet cafes in my country, I can say that about 80% of the people here use internet for Facebook and to "katch a pusi" and don't really care if there's a biggest imageboard or not.
While in other countries I can guess it's pretty much a regular thing everyone knows about. So statistically it's a very visited site over the world, but it's not very visited over here.

I don't get how you could think directly linking to 4chan's .img would even work in the first place. It's not that I'm blocked, it's that they don't stay up long enough.
