I'm going to buy a new phone soon, and I was thinking of getting the LG Viewty.

Specs below in the spoiler.

Spoiler!

Now I've read alot of reviews and half the user reviews were good and half were describing buying it as a huge mistake. :?

Does anyone here have any idea or experience with this phone? :)

Or should I get a different phone in general?

I want a prepaid phone and have a budget of about €120-150,-.

Thanks, but none of those are available for prepaid usage.

I don't need the newest of the newest, more of a decent 100-150ish euro prepaid phone. :)

Idk if prepaid phones come with OSes like WinMo 6, Web OS, Android or S60 but if you could find one with one of those systems you'll be happier than if you bought an LG with LG software. There is pretty much zero third party support for LG phones unfortunately. Phones with those other OSes will have apps and shit that you can download.

Happy Hunting. Have fun.

Edit: I see now that there are a few LG phones with WinMo on them, sorry.

This is the touch thing right?
I think a friend of mine has it, he dislikes the touch aspect.

I have a lg phone myself, and even though I don't dislike it, I'm not going to buy an Lg again.
Fact is, the battery's of lg are horrid (just calling and smsing a full battery would last me 2 days...thats without recording/watching videos or listening to music.)

You can also break them really easy, one fall can do the trick in some cases.
So I'd suggest you get a samsung or soni ericson or something, but well, choice is up to you.

Thanks for all the input. :)

Could you please elaborate on that?

Because I'm wondering what makes this phone such a failure.. everybody mentions the short battery life; but if you disable G3 ànd don't use the magnetic pouch battery life should supposedly be around 3-4 days with moderately intense use.

Is there anything else that makes this phone suck?

woutR wrote:This is the touch thing right?

Yeah it has a touchscreen, and I'm so tired of normal ceelphones it would be a fresh change to have a touchscreen haha :) Users say the screen is somewhat unresponsive but I wouldn't really mind, I'm aware I'm not getting a full €500,- PDA, I can live with some flaws.

For the price the phone looks appealing, since it plays DivX, mediocre camera (my current phone uses a VGA camera ), mp3, etc.

Viewty is now €139,95 at Belcompany, with a Vodafone pre-paid pack.

Hm.. allright thanks.

So far everyone here is pretty negative.. haha

But I still don't know whàt makes this phone so bad..

This is the only prepaid phone that plays avi and DivX, and I don't really plan on using the internet that much.

I saw the commercial, looks good, but it's only in combination with a subscription.

The camera on it is very good actually. I've never seen such quality. I remember my friend used it to record some ninja moves on my trampoline. It had a slow-mo mode built in and it worked pretty good. Quality was pretty pro too.
But it's touch. And touch sucks, seriously. I've played around with my fathers iPhone, and I really don't like touch screens.

Touch screen isn't that bad when you get used to it.

Hm that sounds pretty good :)

And touch screen seems pretty sweet to me, something different than the eternal boring keypad o_O

See. That is exactly why i get so many repairs every week. It's people being told to not do something, yet they keep researching, and eventually still do it.

I tell people not to buy the viewty, they still buy it. I tell people not to buy the Omnia, they stil do it.

Then, 2 weeks later. They're all teary eyed in my store, blaming Farking me for them not listening.

When your working do you give reasons behind your points? I can understand why people would carry on researching when all you say is not to buy it.

haha, yeah I see what you mean.

But hey, it's a very attractive phone for that price, and supposedly at least better than the other LG phones :P

Hmm yeah, I mean, I do trust your more professional view on this, and I don't want to push you ofcourse.

But I'm still hoping that you could give, the maybe 1 or 2 best reasons not to buy this phone.. I still have my hopes up, a little bit.

I have no idea what I should go for if this phone blows.

Nearly all phones that come near what the Viewty can do are still in combination with a 1-2 year subscription only. :[

Well obviously, I wouldn't sell anything if I didn't.

@Ash. The Nokia 5800 is more then decent. When looking at LG's, lowbudget would be the cookie, which is shit, but better then the viewty. Renoir and Arena would be decent to. Samsung has the Jet, touchwiz, and probably star, which wouldn't be a crime to buy. Ultratouch is good, but pricy. Don't ever buy an Omnia or Pixon, horrible phones. These are the only phones, with touchscreen, i'd recommend to a customer whom wants me to be honest.

Personally, I hate touchscreen. Rather don't have one, so I can't break one. Rolling with a Nokia E71 atm.

Don't know if i'm missing any, the European market is different from the US one, and I have no clue where you people are all from.
