Yesterday I picked up most of my PC parts and started my new ultimate build. Building it was pretty fun and cool. I did some cable management yesterday. I'll show you a pic of the back of the motherboard tray when I pop of the side panels to install the graphics cards

What's in it:
Gigabyte EX58-UD5 motherboard.
6gb OCZ gold 1600mhz RAM.
Intel Core i7 920 processor
Prolimatech Megahalems CPU cooler
4tb (4x 1tb samsung drives)
X-Fi Titanium sound card.
Coolermaster ATCS840
Corsair HX1000W power supply
Still to come
2 XFX gtx295 (yeah, that's 4 graphics cores :D)
optical drive.
Other parts
Logitech G9 Mouse
Logitech ulra-x premium keyboard
Sennheiser hd205 headphones.
Iiyama 26" screen
xbox360 controller.

When I get my pay I'll buy either water cooling or 2 Intel SSD's

I download about 150gb every month, and take about 100gb worth of pictures every month, so that means it fills up quite fast

Not really :P. But 4tb sounds nice aswell :P. It wasn't like I dropped a higher end processor of graphicscard to be able to buy the hard drives

Very nice man, can't say I'm not jealous on pc's like yours and twista's :D but you could use the money to buy 3 times a €1000 pc every 2-3 years that can play all the new games by then maxed out (high medium in the last year) that will last you way longer than this.

Unless you are going to spend another 3k in 3-4 years :P

Yes that's what I'm aiming for. This is my first really high end PC, last one I build was 1000 euro a year ago
, and then I bought such cheap ass parts that if I wanted to upgrade something,
I'd need to switch out the motherboard and power supply just to put in a new graphics card

To some people spending this much money seems like a waste, I think that spending money on SRO or other games is a waste. Everyone has their hobby. I know people that have spends thousands on their scooter or other stuff

List the prices with your hardware :D

Nice setup though :)

Similar to mine. Except mobo.
I still got old HDD laying around of 1 TB each (2), gonna be hooking those up as well :D

Oh and I hope your quad GPU setup will run properly because I've seen all over then net that it makes your comp really unstable.

You got a nice PSU to carry it though.

+1 like wtf is with everyone buying these expensive rigs with two many pointless parts?
Logitech G9 Mouse, xbox360 controller? 4x 1TB drives? is it all really necessary? something tells me with all that your going to need more then a 1000w power supply, and i can't even imagine how loud that thing will be.

You guys buying all these expensive computers should invest at least %1 of your bottomless pit of money on surge/battery backup, you could easily screw up your drives from one power outage. I bought one of these and honestly out of my whole rig i think it is the most important part, but with a rig like that you would have to buy one for a business server, lol.

What part is pointless?

It's not like - The more wattage, the more noise. Some are just loud because of the fans...
Todays PSU's aren't even as loud. Reviews can help with finding one that isn't.

A HDD takes like 15 Watts at the very most man, it's the processor and the video card/ram that takes up the full ~ 800.
Not "Oh lets see... good graphics cards, good CPU... and 5 1TB HDD's zomfg yep nao it takes 1.5kW !!!11!!"
Optical drives, HDD's, fans, controllers, they all take very very minor Wattage, you could have 20 in total of these and still have enough wattage with/for his setup.

In fact this PSU is even too much for this build, even when OCing.

Please dont make such stupid assumptions about "us, with our bodomless pits of money" when clearly you have no idea.
I worked for my money, and I'm nowhere near rich.

psu is overkill, seriously.

build is not really what i would do but i guess is a nice system and you can afford so is all good ? seems like a lot of people in the enthusiast market dont know when they are overpaying for non-existing performance.

I have good reasons to buy this PC. First of all I like to edit photo's and edit movies, create CGI movie project with friends.
This is where the good processor comes in. Creative Suite 4 really benefits from extra graphics cards. Second of all, these movies/pictures take up major space. I also like gaming and benchmarking, so having 2 good graphics cards is really beneficial.
The PC isn't loud at all, and it will be even less when I add the watercooling and sound dampening mats. I've done like 4 months of research and planning before I got this build so please don't talk at as though I went into a store and just purchased the most expensive parts available

i said its pointless, what are you honestly gonna do with 4tb of space? 2x 295? if someone told me what they were doing i might understand, and i wasn't talking to you anyways so dont take it like i was attacking you or anyone else, im just a little outraged that some people can actually spend $2500 or more on a computer just like that, i could buy a car for that. and only part of my post was talking about wattage, dont think thats all im talking about.

this maybe overkill at the moment, but I want it to be a little bit future proof, graphics card aren't only for gaming.

ok, well see thats what i wanted to hear, cause i know some of my friends will buy uber expensive pcs and play starcraft all day, but i can see you clearly have a greater purpose in mind, im actually kinda jealous because i was looking to do the same thing :P .
