Ok So my friends told me that I should create a Twitter account because it is the next best thing since sliced cheese supposedly, but when I created it, I couldn't believe the shit that I was seeing/doing.

Twitter is basically an instant messaging board that is 15X slower than an actual IM...
I don't know why people like this so much, all I could see this is for people who are bored and just want to be an epic "twit".

I don't know if this has been posted before , but god damn the site sucks...

I'll stick with real life interactions and texting thank you very much :d.

Anyone here a Twittererer.....er? and why would it be useful? Unless their is a fire or something.

well, from reading all the news stories in current events, like things happening in Iran or China, it seems that most people like it and that it is in fact catching on very fast.

Got the whole crisis point from KeyJ's thread and that can be handy in an emergency, but is it really needed that people tweet every 5 minutes?.

anyone who gets there news from a twitter is probably someone whose too lazy to type in BBC or CNN and get the whole story. The whole thing is basically facebook status updates without the rest of facebook. Im fine thanks...

Facebook does a very good job providing me with that info, but anyway Twitter sucks ass and so does Myspace. I only txt and facebook now. I don't even use my phone to call people now. I have a house phone but I never use it.

I have one but never visited it for months. Only used for a couple of days. Search feature's kinda useful sometimes though. Went to a beach a week ago and it was windy as hell, it wasn't even fun. Wished I twittered it or something so people can search up the place and know not to go there. There was even a field trip that day. Poor kids.

What ever happened to the good old fashioned telephone, where you just picked it up and spoke to someone the other end.

i use it, mostly to fallow my favorite tv shows and see how the people really act like, also fallow shaq and ashton they have some funny random things from time to time.

I think Twitter is ridiculous. I might have missed the point, but since when does it bother me when random person A puts peanut-butter on his bread, or that random person b is doing something at school. It's so full of useless information which I honestly don't give a fuck about

First off all, it's not.

Second of all, it's not slower. it's actually real time. Which means if you have an applet which can handle it, you'll see updates the second they are posted.

Third. There's no such thing as an epic twit. If there's something they're trying to be, it's mostly wannabe Social Media Experts.

Twitter is a Micro blogging service. Which can be usefull is some cases, most business related. I use it to broaden my network when it comes to online marketing, social media, advertsing and design. It's in no way like facebook, nor is it intended to be. There are applications that link your updates to facebook, however.

Twitter is an excellent resource to track certain trends, products, brands, area's.

do you think it's the actual celeb who is posting the things, or just someone who works to promote his/her publicity?

its almost always them, or a producer sometimes to tell you whats coming up on the next show or a loved one.
