What do you like to study in college?

Pick a major that you like to study in college and explain why. For those that are done with college please give some tips to the noobies.
I graduated from college as an aerospace engineer. The money is good to start out with but because of the economy aerospace and mechanical engineering students will have a hard time finding a job. Engineering school is boring as hell. Most engineering professors are bad at communicating with the students because they do not know a lot of english. Your social life will be over, you study night and day, do projects, write reports for labs, study for exams, and etc.
Tip: My honest opinion, if you want to do engineering i suggest you go pre-med or pre-law. they are as hard as engineering but when you are done with law or med school you get paid more. Save the freshman courses that are not related to your major for your senior year that way you can prey on the freshman.

Business, management.
I don't like to be dependent of other people. I'd like a business of my own, where i am responsible for anything that goes wrong.

You will always be dependent on someone. I never understand people who wish to jump straight into management/become a boss. You'll always start from the very bottom and work your way up, slow or fast, depending on how well you do your job.
You don't think you won't be dependent on someone even if you become self-employed? How are you gonna get the money to start a business? The bank. And then you look, and you're already dependent on someone.

I've taken some interest in Chemistry, but not exactly sure yet, still in High School.
But Chemistry is my major since in my high school they force you to pick a major.

chemistry is very limited to where you can get a job. You can become a chemistry teacher, chemical engineer, pharmacist, or major in biology and chemistry together so you can go to optometry school.

That's not entirely true. You can do research/development for tons of products or companies, the government is almost always hiring physicists and chemists, and so are most defense contractors.
Word to the wise - if you're considering an MBA, consider going to law school instead. A lot of business deals have to do with contracts, especially bond underwriting, defense contracting, etc. A law degree gives you the ability to understand and write contracts and legal documents instead of always relying on the legal department. Many top executives have law degrees, it will also help your negotiating skills. Plus, you don't even have to pass the bar, unless you really want to.
If you're just starting out or thinking about uni, I would pick industrial or mechanical engineering. You have a degree in those fields and you can write your own ticket when you graduate. Even in this economy.

Thats rather interesting to know. Are you employed right now?
I dont know. If what you say is right, it kind of scares me. Ive always had an interest in aerospace, and Im a firm believer in practicing a career that you ENJOY as opposed to how much money you make. Its why Ive always shunned people who go into pre-med or pre-law because more often than not, its the money thats motivating them through almost 10 years of college education. Money is motivation in the long run - I dont like associating myself with greedy bastards who want to make 6 digits right out of college.
Also, saying that students with harder majors having a poorer social life doesn't sound legit to me. Are you saying that you wont make many friends in college because you're so busy studying?
But why did you major in engineering? You seem to have disliked it a lot.

Yes i am employed. I always studying engineerig but i just dislike engineering school. i do like my job.

Your only friend you will have is that nerdy guy with teh thick glasses sitting next to you in class for the next 4/5 years. JK You will meet new people but you will have very little time to spend with them. If you really like engineering it is worth the trouble going through engineering school. Btw, some engineers do make as much as doctors, you just need to know the right people.

Any defense contractor or the federal government. As for your question, I really dont know. Im leaning towards manufacturing, but my dads a mechanical engineer in rnd and his job looks pretty cool.
Did you got to graduate school?

Yay not a stupid thread
My major is not up there, but I will post what I am going for. I'm going to college for a Criminal Justice Degree in Homeland Security. My job choices may range from CIA > FBI > Border Patrol > Police Officer (anything like that) I can also work for some private sectors which may focus on Computer Security + White hat hacking. I'm planning to work for the FBI, or maybe do Computer Security, but I haven't decided yet. Oh I'm still within my first year of college, and I'm going through college all year round, so maybe I can finish faster.
