The first one was more Metal.
But the second wasnt that bad.
It's still pretty heavy, and I think they put a deeper side to it.
Suicide silence is a good example of that.

Cannibal Corpse and Slayer aren't metalcore though.

He was, all of their albums sucked.
Also metalcore? Not a fan myself so i can't help out "too" much. But for something a bit different which, i guess, could be subbed in there at some stage try Maximum the Hormone.

There old stuff was okish but now sound kinda screamo/metalcore.
