So today I'm finally up for a new phone and I can get rid of my piece of shit Rumor T_T

I want to ask for opinions on these two phones

Rumor 2 by LG
Image
Pros:
Physical keyboard
No touchscreen to damage
Thread based sms

Cons:
I had a rumor already and I'm not sure if I trust a second one

Samsung Instinct
Image
Pros:
Bad ass touch screen
Huge screen
Decent camera
Thread based sms

Cons:
Touch Screen can be easily damaged
Texting with the screen may be difficult

I have a friend with the Instinct, it seems to be a pretty stable and reliable phone. The only thing that worries me is the touch screen, texting with that may be difficult, and of course the worry of damaging it.

I dont really know anyone with the Rumor 2

Basically what I'm looking for here is some consumer input if anyone has either of these phones.

Thanks! :D

I'm looking more for functionality than aesthetics.

Be a sheep, go for iPhone.

I saw a new phone, I think Motorola makes it, it costs like $2000 but it has swiss clockworks and a circle display, gold, etc.

Friend had the instinct for a week or so until he went back to his old phone. When he did have it though I used to mess around with it. Problems with it? Hmm.. answering a call(at least the first model) you had to slide to answer. Which gets annoying compared to the old flip open and talk or click talk to talk. Ear piece speaker is not so loud so if you go to anywhere noisy you will not hear anything. Other than that it was a good phone I guess. If I had it though the screen would've cracked in a month or two lol.

Ahh, that's no good.

No doubt iPhones are good, or else it wouldn;t be so popular.

Iphone's are merely popular for the superior touch functionality, the hype, and applications. It's an outdated phone when it comes to the rest.

You can cross out "thread based sms" from both since they both have it.
Bad ass touch screen and Huge screen are pretty much the same, merge.
Your left with 2 pros in each.

Your cons for the Instinct cancel the majority of the original pros, so I'd say get the Rumor 2.

If your that paranoid in breaking a screen, just get the Rumor 2.
If you do get the Insinct, and you break the screen your gonna have to pay some more money to either fix it or get a new phone.

Basically, get the Rumor 2

Well, exactly, the 3 biggest features are the best Touch, the Apps, and the brand.

Out of those 2 I would take the touch screen one. But if you want more options I would recommend Nokia N97. It's bad-ass. Just ordered mine

I've had an instinct for a long while now. Had no problems except for a media player issue, but it was fixed with a patch.

I love my phone, and I got it because it's so cheap (especially for internet/monthly plan since it's not considered a data phone).

Only regret is that I can now afford an iphone, otherwise I have none.

I'm starting to lean that way but I've seen with my friends instinct that it does have thread based SMS

They are not too small actually. And if it bothers I can use the touch screen.

How is texting with the touch screen?
I heard it gets spazzy over time too

Never had problems with mine, and I can text as fast as I can on a blackberry. You just have to get used to where the buttons are, since you can't feel the ridges on them.

It's like typing with a keyboard that is perfectly flat; you don't have touch to guide you but you can do it with practice.
