Bad Weather + Internet?

I'm pretty sure that this is not supposed to happen but what are the possible reasons for my internet connection to go "Local"/Offline whenever I hear a roaring thunder outside? For some reason, whenever there's severe rain accompanied by thunder here in NY, my Verizon wireless connection dies for a few seconds then comes back up again. It keeps fcking going offline-online whenever I hear a thunder outside and it's starting to annoy the living crap out of me. Any suggestions on how to fix this bullshit? -_-

Tinfoil?

Seriously, I bet you have DSL - mine used to go out when it got snow or ice on the phone lines. Lame.

Sorry, never figured it out, switched to cable and haven't looked back.

Yeah, thinking of switching soon if I don't find a solution to it.
