Question to those who've travelled from Düsseldorf

Hiya folks.

This friday I'm leaving for schotland for 3 weeks, to my friend whom I've been gaming with for 5 years and a bit now. He's been here last summer and we had a great time.

Anyway to the point, I'm flying from Düsseldorf airport (southwestern germany) straight to Edinburgh (Eastern Schotland). Has anyone ever flown from düsseldorf airport yet?

I've done most research possible on my end, but I just need to hear from someone who's actually been there, how well the airport is accessable from the train station.

I've heard numerous things that is's rather easy. Any confirmation from a fellow dutchy (or maybe EU)?

Thanks :)

Aww :/

I live only 30 minutes away from düsseldorf btw (in holland, close to border), so I'll be taking the train from my city to düsseldorf. Then the question remains : What station is best to get to ; and from there on, what's the best option/way to the actual airport?

Would love it if someone knows this :/

Dusseldorf airport isn't really reachable by train. I mean Dusseldorf, it's some second grade airport for charter companies (no offense, I fly charters as well :P) so that kinda sucks.
I guess there's a bus from the trainstation to the airport. Idk, the airport is really small.

I always get travel jitters so I'm there like 1-2h early, I like to have a margin of error when I fly.
But if it's only 30 min away can't your parents bring you?

there as well. when i fly from there i usually let
one of em drop me off.

you can reach it by train. there's a train that stopts at the airport if i'm not mistaken. from there you can take a skyelevator to the airport. and it's not a second grade, i always enjoy myself there. there's a nice sleepingspot next to the mac. I once had to wait for like 8 hours there due of delay. had a good rest and plenty of food :D

Yeah I was told there are these "zwendels" going from the station up to the airport.
I guess it's well written all over the place, I visited the local train station today and I was told it's quite easy to find.

It's just the certainty that I'm looking for.. :)

My parents are going away the day after (saturday june 13th in the morning) so they can't. They have stuff to pack (they work until thursday so). And they will be at my stepdads place for the night anyways.

My sister offered to drive me but she's currently finishing off law uni, so she's extremely busy this week. Can't afford to ask this from her.

Didn't ask other family members, but kind of cba with that :P

The guy at my local trainstation gave me the price €41,60. That's an open end return ticket, from Roermond (my local city) to düsseldorf. Valid for 2 months (I'm going 3 weeks) Then, the station I arrive at in dusseldorf is supposed to be only a few miles from the airport. So I can take a cheap train there, and then this sky elevator thing up to the airport.

But yea, I was told the airport is kinda new? Like not some old thing. Saw some sort of 3d picture, it looked rather big and new ish.

Just a little something I found out today. I can not take my computer in my registered luggage, lols... and considering it's just too heavy for handluggage, I'm going to post my full suitcase (including everything else) to my friend 1 day before I go. Cost me about €80.
But takes €30 away from my flight ticket.

Booked the flight at Jet2 for €170 (any tips for future bookings maybe?), return ticket from dusseldorf directly to Edinburgh (vice versa for return trip). 1 hour 40 min flight.

Thanks for the replies guys :3
