right so im looking for a new MP3 player. i have the Zen Vision M 30GB model (before they slimmed it down). its screen got cracked it still works fine i can see the screen but iv been using my even older zen nano plus only 512 mb. so any suggestions it has to be smallish not bug and clunky like the ZVM. Video playback is not really a biggy because i mainly got the ZVM for videos and never used that feature. i was thinking of getting the plain Creative Zen but operantly there is now a zen MX.......so ya what exactly should i get? please no ipod though i don't really like them i mean i MIGHT change my mind but i never really liked them.

the touch. If you can wait till sep, than wait. They prob will release the 3gen ipod touch by then. I have the 2 gen, and it IS da shitz. All those apps... and most of the cool ones are free. It's like having a little gameboy that can play vid and music and can hold pictures and more. Hell, i check my weather, gas prices, email mostly on my ipod o-O

depending on the age group. if every kid in 3rd grade has something, i prob wouldn't want it. But when everyone from middle school to college still likes them, i'd give them a 2nd look. The software does glitch out a few times with windows, but i've finally gotten it to work. I didn't buy into ipod until they released the touch 2g. It's like every electronic device ever made combined into one.

Here, i'll scroll through quickly and list some useful stuff:
music
video
alarm
photo
web browsing
email
phonebook
weather
maps
calender
notes
gas prices
movie showtimes
sports scores
translators
voIP phone calling
restaurants
paint
graphing calculator
wikipedia
sudoku
tip calculator
unit convertor
currency, and more

All those were free or or came with apps. Not too shabby for a mp3 player

i personally would rather carry an touch than labtop simply for size. But I guess with the new hp and dell's min labtop it could work.

Small but just for music, for the price, just go to wal-mart. They have so many mp3 players that are cheap but work just fine if all you want is something that can hold music and play it. You said you didn't really use the video option that much so I would go with wal-mart. If you MUST have video, than it's going to be bulky. I can't really think of a model that's not bulky cept the new nano. Most mp3 players with video are gonna be in the bigger range.

A little off topic: I forgot what it's called, but there's this wicked mp3 player that has like built in bass speakers and it spins around and flaps like a little bunny. That thing would be awesome if you love music and have little ones you want to entertain. Sony egg? or something.

the creative zen MX or what ever is smaller then a credit card and plays video. i don't want those no screen things like the shuffle i HAVE to have a screen with a nice UI. like the ipod nano but different.

Ipods are great at everything but playing music...

I have a ZVM 30GB as well and I'm going to buy a Cowon S9 soon. It's small, one of the best sounding mp3 players, and the screen is practically unscratchable. If you don't like the look of the default UI or the way it functions, there are custom UIs that people have made that you can download. This guy has pretty much tripled the capabilties of the default player.
