Windows 7, an SRF Opinion

Hey Guys and Gals,

I was just searching through some topics, and i notice that a lot of users have got their hands on the Windows 7 OS, and i was wondering what you guys thought about it, so far.

I have read some reviews online about it, and "Tech Forums, PC Mags and so on"'s opinions about it, but i wanted to ask what you guys here thought about it, what your views are in terms of everyday average use, not crazy scrutinizing analysis like those other reviews.

Also, throw in some of the little gimmicks that it brings which you like or dislike. N hey any SS, sweet.

Thanks in advance, i appreciate any replies, and im sure other users will too.

windows 7 is in my opinion the best OS available it's fast and is easy to use and it looks better then xp AND it supports directX 11

there is one downside.... Some games which use gameguard won't launch if you use 32 bit version of windows 7(86x) when you try to launch a game it will give you a blue screen of dead.. There is a new version of gameguard which fixes the problem but most games are not updated to the new gameguard client
if you use 64 bit there will be no problems(64x)

so if you are going to buy(or download  ) then try to get 64 bit version to avoid some problems with gameguard games(of course your hardware has to support 64bit)

all at all it is a very good OS and i am using it for a long time now(since build 7022) and till now no big problems occurred except the gameguard issue ;) it is faster then vista and it doesn't require big performance(a 512ram CPU will do it fine)
I recommend to use it.... you won't feel dissapointed

SS of my background(as you can see no big difference between vista and 7 in design:
Spoiler!

I'm gonna buy new computer when I finish my summer job. I was thinking of getting w7 cos I have vista on my laptop and I find it way too buggy to use.

they really should keep Vista's design though. Windows7's interface looks really blehh D:
kind of blocky and huge...

I tried it and I do have to agree it runs pretty smooth. Once I made the switch back to Vista I could definitely feel the lag in the whole UI and overall performance of the OS.

i doubt that. it may be faster then vista but not xp. i heard that w7 will use some new method of utilizing ram for more efficiency.

For someone with a higher end PC you probably won't notice the speed difference in 7. I load just about the same as I do in Vista. The only real change so far is the task bar. Nothing else really affects me at this moment or I haven't come across it.

my xp has so much shit loading at the start im too lazy to disable it and everything else to clean it. trust me. it won't load faster than yours. but it loads faster than mine.

Agreed.

If they're going to charge so damn much for a new OS they could at least put some more effort into its design. Black gloss is pretty uninspired and friggin boring.

I dunno, I'm still trying to find the difference between XP and Vista besides a few gimmicks (and computer load etc, don't start vista whine again now).

I don't really care much for it. It's like a $300,- convenience upgrade for some small stuff. Half of it I won't ever use. DirectX 11 support won't be that big of a deal. Besides, I don't give a crap about any graphics in any game. Every game with Quake 3 engine the graphics are fine enough. Only ruins the play experience for me. Environment, gun, guy, kill, done. I don't give a shit about lightning and stuff.

But can't say it's wrong to care about those.

At this point it really feels like Microsoft is using new DX versions to sell operating systems.

tried windows 7 on a computer with 2gb ram single core and a 64mb graphics card works fine. dont see much different but it does run just as fast as another computer with 1gb ram dual core and a 256mb graphics card.

Yeah, the windows 7 bar thing at the bottem changes color as to blend in with your wall paper... well anyways, about that GameGuard issue BOTD crap, i might of found an solution.
Spoiler!
i'm trying not to advertise, but i need as much help as possible to get my games working, and it seems that SOME people on that thread say that it works ( replacing the gameguard.des file ) i tried it by just replacing the files when the game wasnt running and when i tried to play, i got the botd. In the thread furthermore, the guy explains ( or trys to, i cant understand. ) how to do it, and it seems that that guy can play all ijji games, which run Gameguard. So if any of you have experinces with windows 7 and getting gameguard to work with games, i'd love for you to explain it to me and to help get it work, cause without pangya, i cannot live t-t

I don't like it that the programs on the toolbar are in small boxes. I just want to keep some smaller bars, not big boxes. Options to go normal mode as well?

he tells you this:
start your game but don't really start it...(got that?)before you really start the game copy the .des file and let it overwrite.. THEN start the game
It changes color cause its like transparent lol

:P that's what i meant

Chances are high that they will change the interface/bar by the time they release Window 7
