I don't consider screamo or hardcore to be heavy metal, or even metal at all.

It's just roaring over weak guitars mixed with small bits of singing. Really annoying mix if you ask me.

Hardcore is just bleh. I'm not even sure why it earned that name in comparison. There's nothing heavy about it.

Heavy is a very wide variety.
Especially as you didnt ask for heavy VOCALS to match.

If you are willing to branch out into Prog Death, I highly recommend Between the Buried and Me. They are my favorite band of all time. Album to get: Colors

Also highly recommended:
Protest the Hero - Hardcore with a little prog mixed in. Fortress and Kezia are their releases.
Mastodon - a lot of prog, but still pretty heavy, especially the album Leviathan
The Human Abstract-Great band overall. Get the album Nocturne
The Fall of Troy-I don't like them that much, but they might be up your alley.
