So recently I've been starting to cook a lot, I think it's great fun and the food that I produce is great =] What I wanna know is, is it a weird hobby for a teenager to get into?

No. All of my friends, and I, got into cooking at one point or another in high school. Everyone likes cooking, but when you have class and work, the time it takes is a luxury.

it's good you have it as a hobby now because eventually
you will have to cook or eat microwave meals every day
like my little brother.

What if it were a weird hobby to get into for a teenager? Would that stop you from doing it?
What if we said you were gay for cooking as a teenager?

Grow some balls and do what you find interesting, without judgmental fear.

mmm I made an orange glazed pot roast once. So good. I personally enjoy cooking. Once you get into that zone in the kitchen, it's amazing.

Then seeing people enjoy your food and hearing them praise it is a great feeling. I'm actually cooking a meal tomorrow for my family. Still yet to be decided on what exactly.

Any good suggestions anyone?

I think it is pretty boring in the beginning, but when you have started it's pretty fun.

I agree. About midway through preparing the meal, when things start shaping up and the smells fill the kitchen is when it gets fun to me.

Hmm, well my stand by dish for a family meal is a nice roast chicken. Stuff it with oranges and onions, little bit of olive oil on the skin with salt & pepper and a rosemary stick between the legs. Sides, any kind of roasted or steamed veggies with some garlic. I also make some flat bread. Nigella Lawson has an awesome recipe called Nigellan Flat bread, I think you can get it off her website (google Nigella Lawson). Don't worry about the seeds if you can't find them, you can make it plain and it's just as good. Dessert depends on how elaborate you want to be. I like a little greek yogurt with raspberries for something simple or OMG any of Nigellas desserts. She's my go-to dessert lady. Everything I have ever made out of her dessert book has come out amazingly well. I really love baking :)

To the OP: learning to cook is great. You'll never have to rely on someone else to make your dinner or eat sandwiches for the rest of your life.

I think it's cool. I'm such a looser in kitchen. Seriously. All I can cook is bacon and eggs. Oh yeah! I can boil noodles too.

If anything it get's you points.

All through out highschool somehow in any conversation I had "Harvy knows how to cook!" would come up. Then every girl, and some guys, in the class room would give you looks. Not a bad feeling at all if i do say so myself. 8)
I've always loved cooking but I got really got into when my dad opened up a couple restaurants in the neighboring areas. I'd just hang out with the chefs all day and having all those tools available and just watching them go ape shit with knives and the over speed was awesome!

Like most people have mentioned it's doesn't hurt to learn something. :P

I have been cooking from around 12ish when i started to watch my granda cook.

Girls dig guys that cook, my girlfriend was so shocked when i asked her over and she seen me cooking a full meal from scratch.

I like it as a hobbie but i wouldnt like to do it as a job.

i love cooking, i'd kill myself if i had to eat microwave crap everyday....not really a chef though, i rarely measure out seasonings, its more fun to throw something in and see what happens...it never ends up tooo bad, but i have accidentally produced some inedible things on occasion....ungodly things....
