Question with Vista

So, Vista has been making me go through headsets a small ammount of times... but when I unplug it (or some1else unplugs it) and plug back in the mic stops working
i have home edition 32bit if that helps I just want to be able to use my mic whenever :[ plz help

Make sure the hole is not filled with dust... blow in it.

Id know if vista has Realtek HD Audio Manager, or if it's just my computer.
But see if it recognizes that the microphone/headset is plugged in. In that program/thing it lights up for me if its working/in properly.
