I just discovered Last.fm (http://www.last.fm) and I really like this tool.
I have a very limited library and mostly listen to the same music, so that really became apparent when I just created my profile and imported my music + history

Last.fm basically helps you find music in the same genre you already like. You enter your artists and your songs into your profile and you can find matches. I already found like 10 new songs I really like in the last half hour.
Seeing as I don't download whole CDs but only the particular songs I like, this is really helpful to me, but it's even more helpful to people who download everything from an artist immediately.
Right now I downloaded their radio player and entered and artist I like (Puddle of Mudd) and I'm listening to a lot of tracks of the same genre and downloading the ones I like and skipping the ones I don't.

I can really recommend it if you search new music.
Anyways, do any of you guys use Last.fm ?

I haven't really found anyone with a high music compatibility to mine, I guess I just have very strange combinations. (In Flames + Moby for example, I don't think there are many people who like moby and in flames )

www.pandora.com is really good too. I use that all the time when im just relaxing.

I downloaded the Last.FM program/radio and when I installed it, it gave me the option to import play history from windows media player I believe. Not sure any more, it just popped up somewhere during the process.

yea....mine says high too but of the artists he has listed I think I've never heard of or listened to like 90% of them. The method is flawed me thinks.

My musical compatibility with everyone is terrible. I need like...Brenton to make one of these. His music compatibility should be very close to mine.

i've also noticed weird things with the compatibility meter where i'll have a strong one with someone who i only have 1 similar artist with as opposed to a low compatibility with someone that i have 5 similar artists with

Yepp that's weird taste indeed I just can't get that into instrumental pieces, I get this yearning for voices. hehe

BTW I found my friends' band on the site, you guys should check them out. They're pretty chill, moody, kind of dark and heavy instrumental (which means they're pretty good if I actually listen to it). When the music video for the song Lie to Me comes out I'll post it, it's in post production atm (I'm totally in it too! YAY!!)
