First of all, please dont comment something like "dont buy iPhone" and such.
Now, I live in europe, and iPhones are pretty much expensive here, and my friend is atm in US at colege and he is coming soon, so I want him to buy me Iphone cuz its much cheaper there.
As I saw prices are about 199$ for iPhone 8gb, and I want that one, but he sayed me to look on ebay and amazon for unlocked models. But unlocked are much expensive. And then I saw this
iPhone unlockWhat do you guys think about this, anyone maybe did this way?
And where should I tell him to look for iPhone to buy me.
Thx, any help is appreciated.

Unlocked iphones are expensive. I don't know where you saw prices at $199 for one. It's only $199 with a 2 year contract with a phone service (ATT) I think phone services start at $19.99 a month.

If you get it from ATT, not only is it $199 with 2-year contract, but there's a minimum contract you can get, which costs something like $80 a month. Their cheaper plans you can't get with the iphone.

Hmm, so would be possible to buy that phone with contract and then come here? Is there any legal consequences?
I think you can decode phone here at mobile shops for 20-30 euro. At least one guy from my university did that, looks im gona have to ask him.

Well you have to pay for the phone contract... so it would cost more than buying an unlocked phone.

I have an iPhone. I bought it for 199.99$. It is an 8gig. There is a 50$ charge for the first month of the data plan. But after that its 30$ a month. Unlimited texting and unlimited internet.. My family uses AT&T so I get minutes from the family minute plan... 30$ a month is cheap. I really love the phone.. I never had an iPod so this was a good buy for me because I always wanted one

I never experience any problems and it is truly a nice phone

. I don't understand all this jailbreaking the phones and unlocking them, so I'd just advise you to buy it legit and not risk it.. My friend stole an iPhone and he can't do anything with it because it can't be activated. Just buy it and have AT&T unlock it. Good to go.. Good smart phone, helps me through college

Iphones are absolutely great except one thing.. AT&T sucks. My brother bought an iphone and it's pretty much a miniature computer with a touch screen. You could browse the net like you are on a desktop monitor excet smaller which is pretty cool. Free WiFi for liFE! Even if you don't have a phone service. Great for listening to music and watching vids as well. Get a good sized one though because you will think you don't need it, but then you'll be disappointed when it gets filled up.

Well apparently it's only $99 for a "refreshed" version with contract. I think I'll be getting one soon.
