So tonight I absolutely loved Kris Allen's singing, before tonight I couldn't even remember his name and now he's me favorite, followed closely by Allison.

I don't really watch American idol, nor am I American. I think there's better renditions of that song than his, that doesn't mean he wasn't good as he is quite good, just not my cup of tea.

Allison was the best female singer today. I didn't think her performance was bad, but whoever told her to dress like that needs to be fired.

But then why do the singers wait until the 50th season to go there? Why don't they just go the first season?

1. No one knew it'd be this big of a success
2. People are scared so they don't go at first
3. Some people aren't old enough/are too old

Pretty famous Country singer. Nominated for entertainer of the year at the upcoming Academy of Country music awards. People who listen to country know who she is.
But, you're just looking for an argument.

Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10, 1983) is an American country pop singer and songwriter. She rose to fame as the winner of the fourth season of American Idol, and has become a multi-platinum selling recording artist and a multiple Grammy Award winner. Her debut album, Some Hearts, was certified seven times platinum and is the fastest selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history.[1] Some Hearts yielded three number one hits on the Billboard Country charts in the United States and Canada: "Jesus, Take the Wheel", "Wasted", and her biggest hit to date, "Before He Cheats", and the #2 hit "Don't Forget To Remember Me". Her debut album is also the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history.[2]
Her second album, Carnival Ride, was released on October 23, 2007. It has so far sold over 2.7 million records,[3] and has produced four number one country hits, "So Small", "All-American Girl", "Last Name", and "Just a Dream".[4] Underwood's Christmas single, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" peaked at number two on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. Her current single, released in 2009, is "I Told You So". This is her fifth single from her number one album Carnival Ride. Aside from her vocals, Underwood's success is attributed to what many fans recognize as her wholesome image.[5] As of February 2009, Underwood has sold over 9.3 million albums in the United States.[6] Underwood was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on May 10, 2008. In February 2009, Carrie Underwood received her first "Entertainer of the Year" nomination for the 2009 ACM Awards. This is her first nomination for this category from any award show she's participated and/or been nominated in.

All I know of is Kelly Clarkson I think she was American Idol.
@Bop, she can't be too famous if people haven't heard of her.

What does it matter if we comment on how
Americans sing? We hear American music all the time, it being mainstream. Sure we have our own versions of the show, but that isn't the question at hand.

Yes I have heard of him. I'm aware he is one of those Country folk? That's all I know. I think I heard a song of his once, though I'm not sure maybe that was just similar last names.
Edit: I remember the song, it was that one with Nelly.

Dude. New Zealand idol is nothing. You get like 50k for winning and 15 minutes of fame. Literally 15 minutes.
