I've never actually bought any before lol... So quick question, would it be a big deal if I get different brand ram than what's already in. I know it should be the same model and technical as the rest though. Like I need 1 GB stick PC2-6400- 800mhz

Ya if you just got it I'm pretty sure the mobo supports DDR2.

Well.. I think it's best to use the same brand, there's more to ram than just the frequency.. timings are also very important.. but hmm, I'm not sure if they all have to be set to the same timing or not like frequency does. Maybe one stick can run at like 4-4-4-12 and the other at 5-5-5-15.. not sure xD. I'm too lazy atm to check, but if you find out be sure to say :p

Over the years I've mixed and matched so many different types of ram I can say it really doesn't matter too much.

Even if you bought a lower frequency ram you probably wouldn't notice it. Ram defaults to the slowest (highest) speeds and the lowest frequency. Mixing and matching normally works perfectly.

RAM is already so Farking fast that u wouldn't notice any speed difference at all. only benchmarking program can detect the small speed increase.
get the cheapest biggest RAM u can find.

gb refers to the space(capacity), not the speed.

nuuu don't cheap out on ram. Corsair, OCZ, G.Skill and .. one more that I forget are the onlyyy brands you should buy. Longer average lifespan.. better customer support.. better overall quality, if it even costs a little more it's worth it.

RAM should last forever. there's no mechanical part for it to fail.

But it does fail. Voltage plays a part.
The motherboard will default differing sticks to the timings and speed of the loosest/slowest stick. So 95% of the time mismatched sticks will work together.

if you overclock the RAM of course it will be unstable.

Even without overclocking, ram fails. Had 4gigs in my grandfathers rig to begin with. 2 months later one of the sticks flat out died. Wouldn't post, removed the stick, posted. Tried different slots and different ram, only that one stick caused it. Granted, it was probably bad to begin with, but you take that chance with every piece of hardware you buy.
I agree, ram, cpus, etc should last a really long time.. but they don't always.

make sure you get the model right and that the speed is supported by your MB and you should be fine.
