Well i work for Xtravision (blockbuster) i'm a supervisor and i took dvd's out before they're release date and that was breaking copyright laws.

But they caught onto me when someone that works there was caught stealing alot of things and when they looked into the cctv they caught 4 people including me.

1 for stealing loads.
2 for minor stealing and breaking copyright rules.
and me for breaking copyright rules.

The person who stole all the stuff is made pay £1000 back and its £50 a month the other two were made pay £3.50 for every dvd they took and the same for me which came to £50.

I was supposed to pay my money yesterday but i forgot and when i called today and said sorry i forgot they said they have forwarded it onto the police about me but the others are not getting involved with the police.

Like seriously wtf. the guy that owes 1000 pounds isnt getting done by the police but iam.

So i have a meeting with my solicitor tomorrow.

Those copy right laws are there for a reason, my opinion is, it's your own fault. But also stealing is a big crime and the other people that were caught stealing should also get arrested. Did the other people also get fired or was it just you?

Where I use to work, going back a few years ago. There was a guy that was caught stealing from the warehouse, and he got the sack. And this was only for a few boxes of chocolates. I just didn't see the point, he had a wife and kids. And he lost his job for some chocolates..

Well i just think its unfair that the police is getting involved with me but no one else when i did the least of it all.

I know its my own fault.

The best thing you can do is talk to your solicitor to see where you stand, regarding police. But if they sack you, then there is nothing you can do.

From what I see they took pity and offered you a chance to pay without getting the police involved, yes? It's your own stupidity that got you into this then, shouldn't have taken their mercy so lightly instead should have been more grateful you got it in the first place.

the other guys will probably get dealt with later,

Feel bad for him but if he breaks the law then hes out. You might think the company is cruel but from the company's standpoint they don't want the slightest chance that the guy could end up stealing a ton of money, etc.

Thats terrible judgement. But stealing is still illegal, and poverty (or whatever other reason) isn't a good enough excuse. If he was that poor, he should have asked for aid from the government or look for another job and save $$$ up.

Just said he had wife and kids to look after, and then getting sacked over stealing.

Its the Copyright owners fault, i bet if the dvds were 10 times cheaper they would still make money, but they are greedy

When you have a wife and children and you are the "main bread winner" in the family.
Still this guy loses his job over 2 boxes of chocolates, that cost about £5 a box. Who is going to pay rent/mortgage, bills and food. What I am saying its not worth all that just for two boxes of chocolates. It would probably be hard to find another job, as it would be on his record.

It just isn't worth stealing, however small the thing is.

Oh, talking about fairness? It's unfair for those who make that dvd, author of the contents. You stole the dvds means they have money lost.

YOU'RE AN IDIOT. Why would you steal movies from your workplace (you know; the place that give you money? money that you can use to buy yourself shit?) when you could just get the same movie with probably the same quality off the internet? People just don't have common sense these days.

Stealing from your own workplace is one of the easiest ways to get caught. That's what you get for not uploading the movies online
