Possible end of the Economic crisis! It might take a while, but with the stocks currently on the rise. I'd be buying stocks now :)

Good luck and hope we do get out of this shit!

Yes, but they can often predict how it's going to go for the next <insert time frame here>, and so on. I just seen it on the news, and am waiting for it to go onto News.com.au so I can copy/paste it here.

Meh.

THE share market was trading at a two-month high at noon after US stocks surged on the government's plan to remove bad assets from bank balance sheets.

BHP, the biggest company on the exchange, increased 69 cents, or 2.1 per cent, to $34.01, and Rio Tinto gained $2.26, or 4.5 per cent, to $52.79.

Wall Street got the news it wanted on the US economy's biggest problems overnight - banks and housing - and responded with a rally that propelled the Dow Jones industrials up nearly 500 points.

Basically, everything around the world so far is going good. Often it's just one country has a good day/good few days.

This one isn't all that related but what the hell, I'm gonna put it here anyway.

US Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner has endorsed Kevin Rudd as being "A-plus" on issues relating to the global recession in Washington this morning.

"If we did what he advised we'd all be in a better place,” said Mr Geithner, who is driving the US response to the recession.

Indeed - DarkJackass

It's still confusing though. Especially with my mom calling and making it out to be horrible when something happens, saying to save my money, be careful and my younger brother mocks that I'll be in a soup line..

So yeah, economy virgin is truth'd.

lol dont worry sachin,
3 different articles are saying 3 differnt things,
i love how the aussie one Priases the australian idea,
the american one says that american tax payers have to foot this bill... another massive blow to the middle class,
Bloomberg i think has the best article, they give a more informed view of whats going on,

i can understand why cnbc is doing the fear mongering, bloomberg also says that these bailouts have to be paid back, wich falls onto american taxpayers..which is a story in itself.

Sure, it was on an Australian news site. Your point it? Insignificant NZ ;l Nothing good since Pavlova, which... we took anyway. Oh and by the way, it was an American praising the way the Australian government has so far handled the crisis here. Note: our PM isn't a dyke.

afaik, the term recession is given to an economy who has begun/been on a short-term decrease in gdp growth rate.

A country is said to be in a recession when there GDP drops below 0 for two straight quarters.

The Dow Jones jumped 500 points on Monday so hopefully it keeps up.

Your old PM. Helen Clarke was a dyke. She even talked Maori, how awesome! This dyke with two left feet can't even walk.

Australians have and will continue to defend our internet rights. It hasn't been totally filtered yet, there's only a few blacklisted sites which I don't visit anyway, so I don't see the problem. Should it ever be put into place, there will be a mass uproar and will be removed. Plus, if NZ was so great, why is half of New Zealand living here?!

I heard this on the news 2-3 days ago, and made a thread about it. Sorry that I'm not the smartest person in the world and I actually leave the house and have a life, don't watch stock markets go up and down, and read about them all day long.

Seriously, if there were half as many idiots like you the world would be a better place. Getting a hard-on from announcing that someones thread is 'fail' (isn't that word overused anyway? I'm pretty sure people stopped using that months ago...). Anyway it's all you ever do! Open random thread, new post "Fail thread, you suck, you're not as smart as me. I have no friends, no life (oh and internet kids don't count as friends, which basically rules out all two of your friends).
