test your antivirus

1. create an empty file anywhere on your pc, conveniently on your desktop (find an empty space, right click, new -> text document).
2. open your newly created file (probably with default name new text document.txt)
3. copy and paste this code on that file.
X5O!P%@AP[4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*
4. save your file as test.com
5. expect to see your antivirus software jump into action. (this is a harmless test so you can just ignore what your antivirus is suggesting.)
6. if your antivirus software does not do anything...

Me neither. Protection is for the weak.
I suppose I could install some scanner... I'd have to look in the APT repositories to see if anything is available I suppose.

I've been using Avast for 2 years and NEVER had problems with viruses, Avast cleans them always, but it doesn't register this test, dunno why
