Well my prom is coming up soon, and since I didn't go to my Junior prom, I basically have no clue as to the conducts of this gathering, therefor I seek advices to what I should do from dinner to the dance itself...and everything in between...and if anyone feels the need to share any experience plz do go ahead.

No experience to tell you the truth.
I only have senior prom at my school here in Australia, and thats later this year.
BY THE SOUNDS OF IT
You just chill, chat and drink.
Look pretty and have a good time bro.

I have my formal coming up at the end of the year. (It's Australia's equivalent to a Prom). Basically, everyone lines up out the front of the hotel along the drive way and then the cars start rolling in. Everyone arrives in their flash cars and gets pictures taken of them, and then we all go inside to the formal eating area. We chat, and chat then the food comes out (You also, usually always take a girl to the formal btw). After you eat, you usually just hang around and chat then you leave. Most people usually hit the clubs or the 'strip' and party all night. No real dance here.

Alright, I'm graduated so I'll tell you what we did.
Me and a few friends, I think 4 of us in total, split the cost of a limo four ways for us and our dates. We dad that because we wanted to look good driving up, and we wanted to show our dates that we cared. After we got to the dance, the 8 of us(us 4 guys and our dates) found our own table. The first part was chilling at the table, talking while the girls ran in and out of the bathroom giggling, refreshing makeup, and talking pretty much. Obviously when the food was ready, we all ate. I made sure to get whatever my girl wanted for her. Um...after food was dancing time. Every slow dance and some fast dances I was with her. If I wasn't dancing with her during a fast dance, she was dancing with her girls.
Let's see...as for what I wore. I wore a black suit, with a vest that matched the color of my girl's dress. I got her a corsage that matched her.
ProTip: When you're at the table, it is much much much more comfortable to just take your jacket off and chill in your shirt/vest.
Other than all that it was pretty much just have fun, look good, and spend some time with your friends before you all go off to college.

My prom:
1) Asked a girl to prom
2) Bought a matching outfit (Black, Black, Pink)
3) Everyone met at school, the reason for this was because the girls got ready together
4) At school we took pictures with eachother and our parents
5) We then took a limo (split 1 limo for 8 people, $20 per person (pay for your date too) - was one of those SUV limos)
6) Limo brought us to the place they had reserved, there you eat, talk, and get your rewards (eg: most likely to succeed, most likely to be rich, etc.)
7) Limo's brought us back to school where we had our cars from earlier

From school we all left and drove together to a camp site
9) We drank until the next morning
It's something everyone should go to, whether you have lots of friends going or not. I remember a lot of people didn't want to go because they didn't feel like they were in the "popular" crowd and didn't have dates, etc. But everyone was really nice to eachother because it is the last time you do something together as a group. It's one of the few nights where the popular sport guy is proud to have his arm around the nerdy kid while both of them have a beer in their hands.

as what i'm doing/getting for my date:
1) rent tux, usually matching color vest (or cummerband) to girl's dress
2) corsage (rose bracelet that goes with girl's dress)
3) rent a limo, preferably with at least 3 other couples (to split costs up)
4) go to dinner before the dance (starts at 8, show up to dance around 10, so eating around 8:30/9:00)
5) dance at the dance ofc.
6) after party at friend's house
and ofc you pay for 1,2,3,4
imho, girls should pay for the pictures, if they really want pictures, they can buy it XD

Most people go as a group. Thats makes things a lot less pressure.
Your gonna need a tux, most likely. Suits for a formal, tuxes for a Prom. Rentable from American / commodore or one of those places. Usually runs about 60-80$ also depends whether or not you have your own shoes. The tie, vest, sometimes shirt are traditionally matched with her dress, so she'll have a lot of involvement in what your going to wear.
Then, your going to need (or should....) the flowers, the pin-on-chest little one for you, the wrist assortment for her. No, I cant remember the names of these things, its been over 10 years. These are also supposed to match her dress, your tux and so forth (fun huh)
I've seen it done several ways. All depends on the school really.
I've seen dinner served at the prom itself in the hall, and I've gone to dinner before hand.
Either way, its going to cost money.
Ticket price, sometimes includes dinner all depends.
Tux rental. Shoes often extra.
The flowers.
Possibly some average price gift (are you trying to hit this?)
Photos at the prom (possibly the most expensive photos you've ever paid for)
Limo cost (if your going with a group that decides to do that)
Any other costs associated depending whether or where you go afterwards.

I didn't go to my prom. I just had no desire to go and I don't regret not going.

You're not supposed to wear white shoes under black pants anyways, no matter the brand.

You could have selected something more suited for the occasion imho. But the most important thing is that you had a good time, and from the looks of it, you both look pretty content. =3

No matter what you do and how you do it, the most important thing is to make sure you have fun. It's pretty much your last get together with your classmates before you all graduate. Forget any shit you had between you and anyone else, enjoy the night looking good, and have fun.

i never went to prom. i went with my buddys to across state lines and bought about 400 dollars worth of beer and we drove around and raised hell threw the sister states border towns. then we some how ended up on a farm and we start drinking with the farmhands who later called over some of there friends from high school and we ended up having a huge ass party in a different state with a shit load of kids we didnt know drinking are beer. that party was so crazy i remember it like it was yesterday country folk might seem clam and collective at first but when u get them drunk on 400 bucks worth of jack daniels and PBR they become the most halarious people you will ever meet in ur whole life.
the thing i dont get it how i ended up passing out in the sheeps pen. i remember waking up and having one sheep trying to eat my shoe and the other licking my face. i still remember the sandpaper tounge and the sharp pain in my toe.
p.s. have fun and prom and dont drink to much.

Our school was a little different in that, because we don't have enough pupils in each year to have a prom each, we mush them together.
First prom:
Wore one of my dads suits, it was shiny, it was queer. Went with a friend.
Second:
This year was a lot better, when with the same girl as the previous year. I bought a suit from Target (yes target, it was 79$ woo). Got the DJ to play my girl (at the time) and I's song.
Third:
Got a limo. The best part of the night was the ride back home in the limo. The music on as loud as possible dancing as well as white people can to rap music. Went with my girlfriend (and she still is), although she spent most of the night worrying that she forgot her camera memory card

As for things to do.
-Corsage
-Match her dress
Everyone will tell you buy her ticket/drinks. I did neither.
This was...2007

This was...2008

I own at matching

(yes the tie is blue)
