im writing a short non literature essay and my intro includes this story from sherlock holms.
i remember reading it but i dont know what story it is.
its in the very beginning of a case, and sherlock determines Dr. Watson's brother's character through just his watch. he says like there are many scratches on the watch showing he is drunk all the time.
if you could tell me the name of the story that would be awsome. thank you.

I like your witty remarks Grim.
I wonder if its even possible to tell a persons character by their watch.

which use his storys with added varients would add merit to your project
thats the only one i can think of but there are loads more

It was Watson's brother's watch, if I remember correctly (which I doubt), and it was at the very beginning when Watson is still skeptical of Holmes' ability of deductive reasoning. It was the Sign of Four, look closer. However, I highly recommend reading the Hounds of Baskervilles if you want to analyze Doyle as it is widely renowned for a reason--the characters are much more dynamic than the short stories.
