So I couldn't sleep last night and when I can't sleep I usually reflect about things that happen in my life. However last night was different. For some reason I was thinking to myself: 'What would I do if a thief breaks into my house'? Well, I do have a bat right besides my bed and that's the only thing I could use to defend myself if the thief gets to my bedroom.

So let's see some hypothetical situations and what YOU would do in those situations:

Hypothetical Situation 1:
Say you are in bed and then you realize that a thief broke into your house. You don't know if he is armed with a knife, gun or anything for that matter.The ONLY thing that you have in your bedroom that you could potentially use to defend yourself would be a bat, which is right besides your bed. Now, after you realize they broke into your house and that they might be coming to your room, what would you do? Assume you accidentally left your cellphone in the living room and that the thief cut your phone, so you can't call 911.

Hypothetical Situation 2:
Same situation as in situation 1, but this time there is more than 1 thief. Say they are 3 (you still don't know if they are armed). What would you do? Assume you accidentally left your cellphone in the living room and that the thief cut your phone, so you can't call 911.

Hypothetical Situation 3:
Post is kinda getting long, so I'm going to finish with this one. Same situation as in situation 2, except that you have a phone. Say you call 911, then what would you do next?

By the way, please stay on topic and try to answer as truthful as possible.

Here is what I would do in each situation:

Situation 1= Use my bat and break the thief skull. After I realize he is in the house, I would probably sneak out of my bedroom and catch him by surprise and knock him out.

Situation 2= Since there are 3 thieves, I honestly don't think I stand a chance. So I will probably get tied up (best I could possibly hope for) and they watch them steal everything around my house.

Situation 3= After I call 911, just hide behind the door of my bedroom with my bat in hand and whoever opens that door smash him with it. And hope that police gets to my house on time.

If it were one person, I would hide somewhere behind a door, as he entered the room I'd smack him one right over the head. Hopefully knocking him out, then stomp on his head with my foot

I would smash out my window, and run for my next door neighbors house and use their phone to call 000 (911).

If by two-story house, you mean having neighbours then yes 2-story house. Either bat is fine, use the one of your liking.

1. Hide behind a door, but unless he comes in my room I would strike him.
2. Hide where chances of getting caught are low. You def. don't want to mess with them when you are outnumbered, unless you are positive you can take them on.
3. Call the cops, and the same as my number 2. I think its logical and smart in that situation

Well knowing that: Offenders used firearms in 41.8 percent of robberies, strong-arm tactics (hands, fists, feet, etc.) in 39.9 percent of robberies, and knives or cutting instruments in 8.9 percent of robberies. Other weapons were used in 9.4 percent of robberies.

1. barricade myself in my room, holding the bat. Screw ur belonging, ur life is more important.
2. smash out the window in my room and just hope i dont break my legs jumping from the roof. Then, go to a neighbors house and cal the cops.
3. same as 1 but call the cops from my room.

as u know theifs park there car around ur house that there breaking in to .

i would first open my bedroom window and climb down to my lawn, than quickly run towards my front door and look around to spot any suspicious
vehicles i would run to it flatten the tires and dash towards my neighbors house and get them to call 911 and they would be here in quick enough for them to not have a chance to escape unless they spot me :roll:

I dont know what i would do, i would knock them out with some sort of weapon, then tie the bitch up to a chair or something. Get a kitchen knife and threaten his ass. long story short; i put lovely slice into his jugular or stab through one of his pressure points, then call the cops

Glad your police come and help fast. My crackhead neighbor was wanting for attempted murder and a lot more felonies...took them 2 hours to get there, 5 cars showed up...they stormed in and everything and he was already gone. Yeah you cant rely on them, plus here they are all dirty anyway...half of them are related to major drug dealers here.

All situations: I unpack my AKM, load up and confront the intruder(s).

Whether or not I shoot depends on how well they cooperate. Hearing the gun cock might be enough to get them to bust ass out of the house by itself. Shit's intimidating even for me.

What if they have a gun too?

Hey, in USA can you legally blow someones head off? Example. If someone enters your home (like the situation above) and is walking around with some priceless jewelery in their pocket. Can you legally kill them?

My gun is likely bigger than their gun.

And yes, killing people who've broken in is justified in my state. You'd probably still have to convince a jury though, which shouldn't be difficult.

Here you will go on Murder charge... I guess would be good to own a gun except, not many people where I live have a gun. So not much to worry about. (Of course people get them illegally though).

It varies for me:

1. First thought would be "omg zombies" -_-;;...

2. I'd probably hide under my bed and worry about my cats. If they hurt my cats I'd be Left 4 Dead witch in seconds. I have lots of pent of anger. Think I better not go further with explaining that.

3. Sneak around quietly and knock one off at a time. Probably killing them unintentionally with all my 26 years of pent up anger.

4. Turn on the tv/radio max volume (lights too maybe). Hell I'd run out of a house if someone did that and I was robbing it lol

I was still under the impression you were 26 - 14 (Twenty six minus fourteen). From that other thread in OSV.

As for me I'd probably hide in my closet under my shoes and shirtsok I'm not that big of a puss, I'd probably put up some sort of a fight =P. As macho as I would like to act and say "I'd beat their asses down", I probably wouldn't.....worst come to worst I'd put on a mask or something to a pretend I was one of them -walk out the door and call the police.

I would almost do the same as Reise. Except I would shoot them.

Except here we don't have that freedom of which he spoke. So even if they attack me with a deadly weapon, and with the intent to kill me. If I shoot them and they die.. I am facing murder charges that are no joke. You won't see the light of day in a looooong time.

A. I either place weapons in their hands to create the illusion they were armed. So when the police arrives and they search the bodies, they will find the loaded weapons and that will always work in your favor. Especially when your in court.

B. Stage the whole shit and put on some gloves and take the weapons you gave them in point A, and then remove one gun out of their hands and fire a couple rounds in the wall or into some wooden furniture directly opposite of the door from which they entered your bedroom/ Living Room etc. Then place the gun back into the hands of the thief and then call the police. That is if the neighbors didn't call them already. Heck, even give yourself a bullet wound in the leg, non vital part off course.

C. Tie them like sausages then wrap them individually up in an blanket or whatever is big enough. Wait until it's at night then put them in the trunk and drive towards a remote wood or something desolate. Then bury them there, and bury them deep. Afterwards lay some branches and other forest stuff over it. Piss over it and then drive out of the woods with your headlights still off.

I am not risking death or incarceration for some piss ants who are to lazy to get a decent job and think it's alright to kill people who do.

Lol, I giggle reading some of your posts.

I thought that if someone broke into your house you had the right to defend yourself no matter using what and if they die you had a good reason to have killed them (I thought this is how it worked for all countries). I mean after all, you are just defending yourself, your family or/and belongings, so yea if you by chance kill them you shouldn't go to jail.

Don't you guys agree?

Anyone from Canada know how this works over here (Ontario, if that matters)?
