5 = 1
He did say that 1 equals 5, thus therefore 5 equals 1.
I can go to harvard now?
But in all fairness I stole the answer from the same riddle you asked in the old riddle thread.
Reposting your own stuff leads to me looking for that post for 10 minutes.

5^1 = 5
5^2 = 25
5^3 = 625
And so on.
Thus they think they need to do 5^5

you guys got a funny way of doing it, simple took me all of a few secs
1 = 5
5*5 = 2
2 = 25
5*25 = 3
3 = 125
5*125 = 4
4 = 625
5*625 = 5
5 = you answer

Yeah, 5=1 no one said it was a product or a potency calculation.
1=5; 5=1

dude, even 5=1 is wrong in math, so the symbole '=' is not the same as the '=' in math, therefore (1=5 <=> 5=1) is false

Haven't you read the question?
Math is all about formulas.. I'll show you a formula that proves that 1 = 2:
a = b
Multiply it by b
ab = b^
Subtract by a^
ab - a^ = b^ - a^
Factor
a(b-a) = (b-a) (b+a)
Divide by (b-a)
a = b+a
Since a = b, substitute..
a+a=a
Simplify
a = 2a
Divide by a
a = a+a
1 = 1+1
1 = 2

You can't divide by zero. If A = B and you're dividing by (b-a)...Your math is flawed.
