My Little New Video Card Rant -.-

Well, I learned a lesson today. Though, at first, it may seem like common sense, but I just based it off the video card model number/type. I have been gaming with a 7800 GTX 256MB video card for almost a little over 4 years, and decided to upgrade today to an 8600 GT 512MB. Yes, I'm poor. So, "noobishly," I said to myself, "Alright, Lum, you're going to kick some major balls in your current game graphics." Alas, I stuck that piece of shit in my computer and then - *ding *ding *ding ----> Crap graphics and laggy. I attempted to update everything for that card --> drivers and latest direct X. As a nub on this, I quickly understood that the model number, specifically "8600 GT" does NOT mean it will outperform a 7800 GTX. I'm ranting not only because I'm pissed that I spent $80 (store bought and that's a lot for me atm) but I'm hoping someone else doesn't fall into this kind of situation or trap. I just found out my 7800 GTX is almost equivalent to an 8800 GS (-___-)". Fallout 3 says, automatically, system set at "High Quality." High Quality my ass! When I stuck back my 7800 GTX, it says "Medium Quality" set. I said, "F*** this! I'm gonna try the SAME settings with the 8600 GT settings." Sad to say, but mine outperformed it on those SAME settings. Anyways, a lesson learned, and I'm hoping someone who wants to upgrade soon doesn't fall into this video card situation .
