My computer is infected with so many viruses. I need to download a new scanner, because I think the previous is messed up. I remember I saw a thread for one that was free for like 1 year? I looked for it but couldn't find it, and I cant find it through the search. If anyone knows where it is.. give me the link. Thanks

yea im trying to avoid reformatting cuz it takes forever. Its such a hassle. But I guess if anti-virus software doesn't work, sooner or later I will have to.

wtf are you talking about...just download a free version off the internet. Try Comodo, AVG, or McAfee.

If I were you, I would just reformat first. It's the surest way to get rid of every virus, no virus scanner has 100% certainty of a clean HD.

Well dunno what program you mean, but I've been using AVG free for at least 2-3 years now, and I have NEVER ever had a bad virus. Only minor things.
And in case you wonder, I download multiple things up to dozens every day.

I have Avast antivirus for 1.5 years and I NEVER had problems with viruses. Before Avast I tried out all kind of antiviruses, they all sucked compared to Avast, and it's completely free, it updates every day and get's rid of every virus that tries to infect your comp. Take Avast, you'll be glad you did

however, in the topic the link was posted, there was also a post
saying this offer for a free McAfee license was a special offer
and would last until 31-12-2008. so i don't think the link would

Well, to prevent furhter infections, follow steps -
1. Press "Stop" on "Ass Assualt 2" download screen.
2. Place your hanky away from your snakey
3. Close any interwebz
4. Play Solitare
It works.

just reformat unless you have a really slow internet connection it doesn't take that long
