They only didn't work for the 31st of Dec. Because of the extra day in 2008. It was only the Zune 30's that were affected and mine is working fine now as is everybody else.

And as said, I'd rather have a bricked Zune than a iPod anyday.

I think being able to turn on is a pretty important feature. With that being said, and because i'm not a blind zune fanboy, I rather have an iPod that turns on rather than a bricked zune

The 30GB Zune's only bricked on December 31 2008 and where perfectly fine after that day.


I myself own a 30GB Zune and it did not brick because I did not turn it on that day. It is perfectly fine right now and runs with no problem.

The Zune is awesome, better than some Ipod. imo
