I have a 40gb hd, it was made in 2001, I have 1Tb in this pc but my original is this 40 which runs my windows xp, now i would trash it but im too lazy to format the problem is

If the cycles in the HD exceed my pc freezes (i think so)
cuz when i try to transer files over 400mb to other hds on my pc it freezes
also, when my case temp is CT<70 F it freezes during win xp boot screen or when i log on

it runs IDE and its old but is there anyway i can fix, defrag and stuff dont work tried

Are you trying to move your files from one to the other? Try using an ipod as an external HD, or something else that isn't a real HD, that SHOULD work, but if it doesn't, come back here and ask again.

If that's not what you wanted, restate 'cuz I dunno what you're talking about

Then zip them/rar them and move them one at a time.

If that doesn't work, I have no idea what you can do.

Maybe it's not the moving of the files, maybe it's just what it's moving it to. That's why I said use an ipod, they're pretty backwards compatable.

Use something old, try an old flash drive.
