How likely is it that you are caught downloading illegal p2p files? (Music, Movies, Etc..)

Very unlikely. There are millions of people like you who are illegally downloading everyday. It would be impossible to track, identify, and arrest every one, which is why, law enforcement's efforts to curb it makes no difference.

i don't use torrent just so u know =P

Well i only use on occasions if the new silkroad client has alot of seeds

EDIT:
@Silo

From what i've heard, it really depends on your internet provider, its their discretion to turn in your download log. And also, the more megabytes u download, the higher the risk

Who cares about the police. You should be worried about civil suits.

You might recieve an unexpected lawsuit from the RIAA/MPAA =D

Out of the millions of people that pirate things, its not like they're gonna catch you specifically and hunt you down. However, there has been reports of some games that have been flagged by Copywrite (in this case, they call your ISP and your ISP sends you a warning)

MPAA is a bitch though. Also, your ISP does not monitor what you do, the copyright corporations do however, your ISP doesnt really care but in the US they basically forced the ISPs to cooperate with them or would get huge law suits. The way they catch people though they blacklist some torrents...and they put a tracker up with a honey pot file and when you connect and download it and/or upload it back they figured things out, get your IP, ISP. Tell your ISP then your ISP will contact you..

thats exactly how microsoft fcked a bunch fo pirates up, they released a list of valid volume xp activation keys, so noobs just use those since a sht load of people can use those same keys. a months pass by, microsoft releases this update patch, (valid key = free updates). BAM, next thing you know you cant even log into xp b/c you support piracy, all data are gone unless you really buy a xp key

Yeah, you're right. I'm from Croatia and I download via torrent a lot. I've NEVER heard of anyone getting caught for illegal download EVER. It just doesn't happen. Only when you massively sell illegal copies but that's another story. Nobody will catch you for downloading stuff.
