Voter turnout.

Post by Barotix »

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/20 ... r-than-04/
The report released Thursday estimates that between 126.5 and 128.5 million Americans cast ballots in the presidential election earlier this week[..]
In 2004, 122 million Americans voted in the general election.

1% increase. The promise of Change and Maverickyness only made a 1% difference.

After 8 years of Bush adminstration, I thought more people would turn up for this election.

Compared to 2004, Republican turnout declined by 1.3 percentage points to 28.7 percent, while Democratic turnout increased by 2.6 points from 28.7 percent in 2004 to 31.3 percent in 2008.

1.3% and 2.6%

To get a general understanding of the situation, anyone know how many registered voters there are in America? Or people over 21 (legal age?)

I remember reading somewhere around 80% of registered voters actually voted.
