Another prediction from Nostrodomus is an epic fail...

Post by Knight_Ange1 »

Did he also predict that there was gonna be a United States? Then come along a Democracy? Then along came Presidents and voting? Ok Nostro, who's the next president after this coming one? Did he make a list of everything that's gonna happen for the rest of earth's life?

No.

Fail for those people who believe in that crap.

Hence why, this newsgroup knows exactly who Nostro predicted...

Well, I seen it just only 1 hour ago. Maybe they took it off. It was on Aol.com. But on there they said
Nostradamus predicts McCain win!

Heh.

Well tbh, can't go around calling the dude an epic fail, when he predicted like 5 million things, and a couple seem to have not happened.

It's logical.

It's not really about Nostradamus. They just use that as an example of a scam.

This is about the failure of MD5. They published the MD5 hash of the document containing the name of the next president but the truth is they have 8 documents, each with a different name. They are basically showing that a document can be hashed to any MD5 hash you want.

Can you explain please? I really don't know what he's predicted, in my opinion (I've seen about 5 of his sonnets) people are just retarded and when they read them they're like "well, this could be talking about this... and that is this... and maybe he meant this when he said that"

@the people who don't know him:
That's a good thing. It's not mind boggling you don't know who he is, it's mind boggling anybody at all knows who he is, he's just some stupid guy who lived a long time ago who people are going crazy over for no reason. You might as well believe in Uri Geller.

There is no way to predict the future, it makes no sense, I used to be skeptical, but now I just plain don't believe it, it makes no sense. People just want to believe in it but it's not true and makes no sense. Palm readers do say what they see, but people just bend what they say for them to be meaningful to them.

This one guy became a palm reader to put himself through college, and he didn't believe it, but then he found out that there was something to what he was doing, because everyone said he was always right. Then a friend bet him that if he said the exact opposite, it would be the same reaction, and it was, he did it and everybody still believed him.

Nostradamus is retarded, but I'm sure that even in the year 2013 people are still going to believe him and say 'he was just off on the timing'.

First off, he predicted many, many things. It's not like he made 3 predictions, whom came trough, and stopped there. There's thousands, if not millions.

All those predictions, atleast the majority of them, can also be interpreted in different ways, which increases them exponentially.

90% of his predictions is bound to fail, i would even go as far as calling them guesses, gambles, they could be right, if not, oh well, we've still got a couple of hundred.

But he did however, get some things right, which i think is pretty cool. Therefore calling the dude an epic fail, when he gets a couple of them wrong, is gooing a bit too far by my standards. And shows you know nothing about him anyways.

That's what i meant ;p

Nostradamus didn't "predict" anything beyond simple inspirational rhetoric. He was writing about the political climate of his time. Because his political position was contrary to that of those in power, he wrote cryptically. His friends and political allies understood completely what he was talking about. His enemies, even if they could guess at the meaning, couldn't prosecute him because the evidence was so vague. Unfortunately, the historical context was lost over time and all that has remained is his subterfuge. Desperate to place it into context, Nostradamus "scholars" retroactively attach his writings to certain events that may show superficial resemblance.

Well, in 400 years people will be talking about the great Rainigulus, for he predicted these things:

A great device will carry the people over far lands.
Our reach will extend beyond the heavens.
The ability to be entertained will never be far.

Ahhhh... your assertion that Nostradamus was not known by his contemporaries as a "prophet" lacks any evidence or foundation.

Michel de Notredame was a Frenchman who lived in the 16th century (the time of the bubonic plague). He was a physician and astrologer who also had interest in metaphysics. He grew up contemporary to Copernicus and surrounding religious Heliocentric intolerance.
Rose of Sharon Winter wrote:Though written in sometimes vague and obscure language, the clear meaning of some of his verses seems to indicate foreknowledge of such events as the Great Fire of London in 1666, the details of the French Revolution, the rise of Napoleon and Hitler, the course of World War II, and the assassination of President Kennedy. His verses, some pertaining to the present day and beyond, are still the subject of much debate. His work remains a classic in occult literature.
~ Rose of Sharon Winter
The French Revolution, the rise of fascism in 1930s Europe, and the explosion of a U.S. space shuttle were supposedly prophesied by the Renaissance scholar. To state, as you have, that, "Nostradamus didn't "predict" anything beyond simple inspirational rhetoric," is simply untrue.

I would agree with your sentiments though, that he was NOT a true prophet, in any real sense.

Some believe so, yes. And (contrary to the assertion that his predictions were mere "inspirational rhetoric") he did so with more credibility than a Magic-8 Ball®.

To the one who said, "There is no way to predict the future, it makes no sense, I used to be skeptical, but now I just plain don't believe it, it makes no sense." May I ask you, are you sure? A military friend once told me, "I am always certain, I may be wrong - but at least I am sure."
