I've decided that Lime wire sucks so I have a few questions about torrents.
1. What are the Cons of torrents
2. what are the Pros of torrents.
3. Is it illegal?
4. Why are torrents better than other softwares?
5. If I turn off the computer by accident what happens to the torrents?
6. Anything else I need to know?


I just need these answered because I'm to torrents and I want to know what I'm getting myself into.

2. You get shit for free
3. Yes
4. They have a cooler name

For number 5 I mean if I like I turn off the computer and the download was at 55% when I turn it back on will it be back at 55% or will I have to restart from 1?

It's not illegal if you download for own personal use. Well atleast as far as I know and you won't get caught trust me. I know shitloads of ppl that have downloaded over 100GB per month including me and we've never been caught or gotten a warning...


Pros= mostly very fast
cons= only new things are fast to download older stuff are alot slower cuz no seeders

For number 5 I mean if I like I turn off the computer and the download was at 55% when I turn it back on will it be back at 55% or will I have to restart from 1?

It will continue at 55%

You need a quadcore processor to be able to use torrents.

When you say seeder you mean like a host or provider right?

How do you know when you have quadcore?

Use frostwire, its a much better version of limewire

Did you even try it before?

Just sign up at one of the private trackers. (ie. Bitsoup, Revott, etc.) They have that upload to download ratio crap but their torrents are fast. I just donate for upload credit so I don't have to upload that much.

The quadcore thingy was a joke , and yes a seeder is someone who seeds the torrent( uploads it to you )

Kazaa / Kazaa Lite

Torrents suck, get a rs account and have full speed whenever you want, unless you have access to a private tracker, and yet again you depend on seeders + wasting your net for uploading shit, while with rs you don't.

Yeah, because you can download let's say ... RA3 within 2 seconds of it going on the net at 10 MB/s with rapidshare.

Yep. There's no limit on rapidshare, unlike torrents, you depend on seeders, you're lucky if you're on a good private tracker with many swedish people, since they usually all have 100mbit net. As soon as theres a new release on a private tracker, you'll find it at the same time on rapidshare too, the only prob that may occur is that things are getting deleted off rapidshare the first few hours, but later there are more and more uploads and they can't control it anymore then. I don't like torrents cause I just have a 6mbit line, which means my upload isn't that great, and I don't want to spend many hours uploading stuff to keep my ratio up, so I stick with rs where I can download whenever I want

Ehh, RA3 only had 1 seeder when it came out. There were 21 of us in the first 10 misn downloading .. all were dloading with 3MB+. I dunno, from experience you can't compare private GOOD torrent sites to premium RS. Maintaing a decent Upload / Download ratio is not hard at all. If you go under the 1:1 mark .. simply dload a porn and let people upload overnight ;p

Yeah you guys are noobs, Kazaa is the best P2P program, and I still use it. Its probably the safest and most reliable P2P program out there unlike limewire that gives you spyware and viruses and shit, AND songs that only make like static/white noise

Well, I only use torrents to download movies & large files..

1.a. You can get viruses if you don't know where you got your torrent from. Make sure you read people's comments on the torrent first before downloading.
1.b. Some torrents are really slow if there aren't any seeders and/or the seeders' upload speed is low.
2.b. You can download almost anything from games to music, e-books to porn.
2.b. It's fast if there are a lot of seeders and/or the seeders' upload speed is high.
3. You'll find majority of the files illegal. There are some that are legal.
4. More content = more people using it = more seeds = faster downloads
5. They'll be safe. When you start the torrent again, it'll continue the download.

ok let me inform you that downloading isnt illegal in many places its the actuall seeding or uploading of these pirate products thats illegal so download and remove i never seed yes im a douch but **** you i know i dont wanna get caught nor do i wanna break the law.

if you download a game though and certain products your allowed by law to have it for 48hours as a trial period after this you must delete it...i dont pirate games tho i dont know what other products this applies to


the big con with torrets are people putting viruses in them and posing as someone else, if it asks you to go to an external site for a password its a broken link dont bother
