What's up with?
Does the traditional left-right set up hold up to scrutiny?
Look at some of the names and look at some of the groups normally put in those areas. You're probably looking at some of the names and thinking, hey! He doesn't belong with them!

Well for one, there is no "left wing" in America because our most liberal are still somewhat conservative on a global scale. So Obama shouldn't be grouped in with Lenin and Stalin there on the left.

Hey cruor, do you have the link to that site where there's a quiz, and in the end, it doesn't just say 'left wing' or 'right wing', but there's an entire 2D plain which measures all sorts of different things, and puts you on that. If you know what I'm talking about, I took that and I was quite close to Ghandi, I remember.
And I agree that Obama shouldn't be on the left wing, but I suppose it's just to be relevant to modern times, because Mccain is on there as well.

Ahh, thank you

Yeah, and I noticed that too, but I figured I was just being ignorant, lol.
I think everyone should take that quiz ^, it's very interesting.

You can't compare Obama to Lenin or Stalin. The definition of left/right changes in time. Left in 1945 meant something else than left nowadays.

Hmm Stalin on the left and Hitler on the right, looks very promising for both candidates haha! My preference is near the middle slightly to the right

Ya but in all seriousness it's not fair to compare either candidate to the names like Hitler or Stalin on the list

Heroo and Cruor got it, for example in the 18th century Liberal/Left = Libertarian.

@Mr.Ganji, you're not wrong. Certain names can't go together. I really like the authoritarian/libertarian matrix.

Economically i'm towards the right. Social rights, like abortion, homosexuality, and religion push me back towards the centre. And i'm Authoritarian.

Well there's mine, a pretty good stance if I do say so myself

I would of expected to be a little more to the right tho but overall that thing is pretty acurate.

Wow i considered myself to be a little more libertarian and a little more to the right on the economic scale. i probably should've answered the questions more carefully.

I'll go with the language barrier or something.
Btw, what does Authoritian mean? I've never heard of it before.
In Holland I'd vote for something center rightwing, progressive.

Left - Right is the degree of Economic freedom with the Far right being the most and Far Left being the least.
Up - Down is the degree of Social freedom with Down being the most and Up being the least.
I would say being very liberty orientated is good. *Shrugs*
