Hey SRF, I got a little computer problem. I just got a new computer and i love it, the thing is...My hard drive is called I:, instead of C:. All of the programs i try to install want to install on C:, and therefore tell me i don't have enough room. Is there a way i can either change what my hard drive is called, or where the programs install? And no, the programs do not give me the option.

When it shows you the path: highlight the C, hit backspace, press i on your keyboard.

Can't you just rename the drive? Open "my computer" and click on the drive I, and then click on it again (the name part) and maybe you can change it, or right click and do rename or whatever. If that doesn't work, I'm sorry I wasted those 30 seconds, I'll try and come up with something better.

Thats just it though, most programs do not give me the option to choose a path. For example, when i try to install flash player, it just tells me i need 5000kb of space, when i have 100+ gigs of room left.

Can you take an ss of your 'my computer' .. "folder" and post it please!

And i can't just rename it, it will only rename the "local Disk" part.
If anything, Figuring out how I can install Macromedia flash player would be enough.

Yeah of course not.. okay, do you know exactly what those removable disks are ?

Anyway.. just go into control panel, admin tools, computer management.. there will be a list on the left in computer management, go to disk management. Rightclick the C: first (removable one) and name it to something else, like J. Then make local disk I: into your C:.

shit, that isn't going to work if either are what you use to boot from... which they are. Second I'll find another solution. >_>

Okay here's what you're going to do

First off get rid of those removable disks, pretty sure they're just clones of nothing anyway.. but unplug them if I'm wrong.
To do this, rightclick.. properties, hardware tab, highlight one, properties.. device useage: disable.
Do that with all of them; now try rebooting.
Windows should recognize your I: as c: now, but if it doesn't that's ok.. you'll have to do this:

just follow those instructions, really simple.
This will save you lots of trouble in the future instead of just getting flash, trust me.

Thanks for trying mouse, but i've tried all of those many times over, and none worked....But i had to reformat anyway, and it's good now ^_^.
