A saving bond proposed ot pay the following interest rates, compounded annually:
Yr 1 2.50%
Yr 2 3.00%
Yr 3 4.00%
Yr 4 4.85%
Yr 5 6.00%

What effective interest rate would a bond purchaser average over the five years?

Answer is NOT 4.07%

[SOLVED]If something is $4.18 per metre in a 0.9m width. How much is it in 2000m^2 [square meters]?

I am thinking:
4.18 per 1mx0.9m, so 4.18 per 0.9m^2. Then you 4.18/0.9 = 4.65 per m^2. but how do you convert this into 2000m^2?

If you pay 4.65 per m^2, and you need 2000m^2. How about you just do the 4.65 times 2000?

I don't get the question.

4.18$ per meter. I get that bit.

0.9m width? What?

meter = length
meter [sup]2[/sup] = area

But we're buying it in length?

Oh forget it.

Step 1: how long it the piece of cloth/carpet/whatever.

2000m²/0.9m = 2222.2m

Step 2: the price of the whole thing
2222.2*4.18 = 9288,9$

The price of a perfectly square piece should be the same.

4.65 is just what i think, not sure if that correct at all. so are you telling me 4.65 is the correct price for 1 square meter?

@Nitro, yes that the dimension for the piece of cloth

@takolin, nice, thanks alot

this is the calculation, or part of, a marketing scenario i gotta do at school about some rubber substitute for airline carpeting, i gotta calculate a good price to sell it

1800*4.18? :s

edit: actually no lol

2000/0.9=2222.2222222222222etc; so that * 4.18? Or if you shouldn't work with decimals, make it 20000/9 instead of 2222.22etc
