Since I live in Holland, this will be for the Dutchies mainly. But if you know something about this, feel free to share.

My question is: What are the chances of studying abroad here in Holland?

I'll be done with VWO in about one and a half year and I really would like to study abroad. Anyone here knows if that is possible? Are there any scolarships in Holland for these kind of studies? How about studiefinanciering when you study abroad?

Btw, I really would like to study in the States, but Englnd would be fine also.

Thanks,

-heroo

I'm actually a foreign student studying at Holland and the course I'm doing actually requires everyone to spend a year abroad (1 semester internship, another study). And this course is available for Dutch students as well. So, 100% chance of going abroad?

I just wiki-ed VWO, correct me if I'm wrong? Is it like a science stream in high school?

you want to do an entire study abroad?

i know a lot of people who have been studying 6 or 12 months abroad,
as part of their study. i've done 6 months of internship abroad, so
have a lot of others. i've been on a norwegian high school for one
year as well, so i say chances you can study abroad are huge. you
just need to email/call/fix a lot.

edit: oh, and i got uitwonende studiebeurs (293 a month i think),
but i can ask around a bit for how my friends did that with scholar-
ship. i got paid by my company during my internship, so i didnt
bother taking a scholarship tbh.

Come To Ireland, Courses are free here. Althought they just increased the registration tax, Its all covered under our Free Fee's scheme if your an EU memeber.

Its way more fun than the UK. 8)
ALtho I have to say I LOVE london one of my favourite cities of all time, but its very Expensive. If I every had the chance back when I was studying I would have gone there. :P

The US is a totally different culture to European Schooling system and personally I would rather Kill myself than go to college there, Complete brainwash, upper class hypocrecy. My personal Opinion after going to a few clases with a friend while I was over there. Way not as fun as in Europe. Altho If you like sport you are likely to get the best fascilities anywhere in the world. I dreweled over the funding their sports scholars get.

Thanks for the information so far.

@Cin, yes I want to do a whole study abroad. But I mean, aren't there any special rules or anything for Dutch students that are studying abroad?

@Bakafish, I don't want a year abroad, but the whole study abroad. And yes, VWO stands for Voortgezet Wetenschappelijk Onderwijs, it's like the highest schoolstream in Holland. A VWO-grade is required if you wish to study at an University.

@caseyd, sounds great :D I am planning to study either International Law or something with business, like International Business or something :P Hmm, don't think Ireland would be something for me, I want to study at a big city. Furthermore, I have an uncle livind in London, so that's a great financial advantage.
