The next generation of Macbooks & Macbook Pro's. Opinions?

What do you think?
VS.
Personally, i'm glad i got the version before the new ones, a couple of months ago. I hate the redesign. The black keys, full glass screen. Ugly if you're asking me.
What i do like, however, is the new cinema display.

I like the new MacBooks, except the Black Keys, and black that surrounds the screen.

Regular > Pro.
Looks ugly with the black keys and black around the screen.

About the black around the screen. I can't believe they did that. They must still remember how heavily the community responded when the alu edge around the previous macbooks, was thickened by an inch.

I wont be buying a Mac

But the new one does look nicer I think. Besides the Aluminium casing on the Macs cause all sorts of havoc with their wireless connectivity, maybe thats the reason for the change.

I'm not sure, though i've never had any wireless difficulties so far.

Though, the price is not entirely bullshit.

We had...20 people in our class. 7 had Macs. 3 were those Aluminum ones (all different models I believe), all couldn't get connection in our form room. The other 4 could no problem, along with all the people running Windows laptops.
I'm sure its just because the aluminum limited the range or something.

I kinda like it, but I don't like new macbooks, my favorite macs were the old 2000 desktops.

I don't really mind the colors they used on the keyboard or the screen, as long as they keep the minimal design of it. Aside from the new look, the change that I like is the new multi-touch trackpad. Adding touch-screen tech in Apple's products could be foreshadowing the future changes in their product line. I wouldn't be surprised if they announce a Mac version of the tablet or the HP's TouchSmart PC - like a Macbook/iMac touch?
I'm not too sure with the Cinema Display. If I want a desktop experience, I'd get the iMac instead.

Yes it is. The specs for a $600 desktop computer is $1500 as an apple macbook.

So are you saying the specs for a 600$ desktop should also be 600$ FOR A NOTEBOOK with the same specs? Wheres the logic in that?

Same goes for PC laptops of similar performance...

If I'm going to pay $2.5k+ for a laptop it better be built like a god damned tank.
Think different?
(although I must agree about the redesign, the increasingly rounded corners remind me of the safety scissors from kindergarten)

One question...whats wrong with the black keys? Is it because it resembles a non-apple laptop?

IDK about everyone else but things that don't match are one of my worst OCD things.
What about the normal Macbooks? I'd much rather pay 1k for normal than get something which is basically only better because it has a discrete graphics card, which is good for basically nothing on a laptop, and has an extra 2" on the screen and costs 1.5k more...

No it's not. Don't even try to argue with me unless you've actually owned one and are not judging a book by it's (price) cover.
The keyword is performance, google it.

Comparing hardware performance is pretty easy. And comparing cost is REALLY easy.
Say 2 people have Q6600 in their desktop.
One paid $180 the other paid $230. Both processors are the same model so they will have the same specs but one just cost more. Costing more does not make it better. They will perform very similar across different motherboard/hardware. But wont even come close to having a performance increase of $50.
Now comparing 2 laptops
Acer Aspire AS8920-6746 NoteBook $1,599.99
*Windows Vista Ultimate
*Intel Core 2 Duo T9300 2.5 GHZ
*4GB DDR2 Ram
*320GB hard Drive
*
Blu-ray Disc / Super Multi
*NVIDIA GeForce 9500M GS 512MB
Vs.
MacBook Pro $2,799.00
* Leopard OS X
* Intel Core 2 Duo 2.5GHz
* 17-inch widescreen
* 4GB Memory
* 320GB hard drive1
* NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT with 512MB
They have the exact same hardware except for different graphics cards. Both the 8600m and 9500m suck so they does not matter much. Performance would not change much between the same hardware on different OS.
So when you buy the Macbook you are paying
$1199.01 Apple tax. All that for Leopard OS X and the little shiny apple logo. (
And if you want Leopard OS X so bad it's only $109.99 on amazon)
So please tell me how spending over $1,000 more makes the exact same hardware better?
