If you don't have the time you type what you think, don't type a two lined ridiculous summary of books hundreds of pages long, holy to many, and expect people to be content with it.

Seeing that the later is partial motivation for following religious dogma, I would say that his statement is correct albeit flat.
If that your interpretation of religion, then be it, if you think religion is some big threat of believe or go to hell, I'm not at all surprised why you are atheist, and for your sake I hope you stay atheist.

It is not uncommon in many Catholic churches today to find that same sermon being given with minor changes. For alot of people the thought of some giant cosmic douche controlling everything but not interfering with anything BUT telling you to live life how he says it is enough to make them shy away from religion. To you (and I) this is not a good reason to disregard religion if thoughts stop there, however if the person were to delve deeper into the basic argument of "why should i do what cosmos douche tells me to do" they could actually come up with alot of good reasons to ignore religion and the belief in God. Who is to say he hasn't and didn't feel like posting the deeper aspects especially when "Live like this or go to hell" is the bulk of the old testament....probably all the old testament.
EDIT: i guess the old testament would be more like "Live like this and you're going to hell anyway"
Since when was this about the Catholic church? People are summarising religions into a 'believe or go to hell' idea. Cosmo douche? Apparently,
84% of the world's population believe in some sort of 'cosmo douche' or other, as for the Catholic church, how many Catholic sermons have you attended for you to pass such an unfair judgement?
Also that ignorant little remark you made at the end, it really shows how much you think of all the Jews and Christians doesn't it?
