Mandrin from North chinese language(Beijing) and of course the orginal chinese. but mandrin using simplied chinese character. cantanese still use the traditional chinese character.
but prolly soon, all chinese will be mandrin. ">.> cantanese will die just like shanghaiese.
Thank you.
And what makes you think that?
mand is not the same as beijing there are many difference in pronuciation between the 2 dialects,
cantanese depends on where you are talking about:
in mainland china everything is simplified, no one use the traditional style except for like religious stuff traditional stuff
but in taiwain they use traditional style... come to think of it your teacher is most likely from there
AND NO it will not eventually die out

Not true, if traditional was only used by religious people and traditional things, then why in the world would the district school board (well at least mine) make you learn traditional instead of simplified? Well actually they use both, but mainly traditional. There are many many places that still use traditional cantonese.

NOT TRUE in china mainland no one use traditional style!! I lived there i know. Your school board did that because they can only get a canto teacher because most chinese immigrants are from tai. no there is not alot of places that still use traditional chinese in china MAINLAND. go ask your teacher if u have to. look on the map taiwain is a little island, nothign compare to mainland

GiGi wrote:mandrin was orginally from North (Beijing). -.-" if u cant heard the accent.
cantanese will die like shanghaiese. i meant in china, the law enforce everyone in shanghai speak mandrinthat's y u dont hear much shanghaiese in shanghai. prolly soon or later, china will make a law to enforce cantanese to speak mandrin.
uh.... from what I know Mandarin is the standard version of Chinese without any influence from local dialects.
