Re: How do Christians think it's right to discriminate Gays?

As an openly gay person (viewtopic.php?f=12&t=110569), I cannot tell you exactly what cause people to be gay but I CAN tell you it is definitely NOT a choice.

I realized I was gay in 4rd grade and I was in self-denial. I've tried so many things to try to be straight, but I realized it was hopeless. It's who I am, and I felt it was already predetermined for me (either by genetics or by my mom's hormones while I was in her womb).

Now let me clear up a lot of things for all you people out there. If someone claims that they can choose to be gay, then they are already gay or bisexual. End of story.

If you are a guy and want to know what it's like to be gay, imagine yourself trapped in a female's body and vice versa the other way around.

Now, personally for me I do strongly believe that being gay is influenced by your genes. I can tell if someone is gay or lesbian with 85% accuracy.

Most gay people I know, including myself, don't go out and "fck" everyone we see. We are very picky on who we have a relationship with. Yes, I am sure there are people out there that will do that, but that is just the exception, just like there are sluts out there that will fck every guy they see.

I also get why people care so much about who we choose to marry. How exactly does that affect you? Mind your own damn business lol. We've made remarkable progress in gay rights and that there's no doubt in the future we will look back and asked ourself why gays are being discriminated against and denied rights. An overwhelming majority of young people support gay rights, while older fights do not. It's a generational issues... so as the old people die off, then that's when equality will be achieved.

Anyways, any questions ask away...

Pathetic, this whole discussion
No matter how much you think you love somebody, you'll step back when the pool of their blood edges up too close.

Kind of agree. It's kind of saddening that this even needs to be an issue. However, we're human after all; there's always going to be folly somewhere. Shamefully, it's in places it shouldn't be. Equality is something we'll never see as long as people's mentalities separate, rather than just see what we have in common. What it comes down to is that we're all just human. Sure, we'll have our differences, whether they're physical or behavioral, but that's life. Things weren't meant to be exactly the same.

It's pretty simple: just live, and let live.

We should stop treating people like objects, or at least treat our objects with more respect.

Alright Christians at least, view homosexual actions as a act against god, but God does not hate the sinner but the sin. You can be "gay" but not to practice it according to the bible. Personally I have a uncle who is gay and he is cool, and IMO idc what they do and idc if they get married. Though a majority of the USA population is Christian or raised in Christian Worldview thus making homosexual outlawed in most areas of the country. Even though people say Church separated from State but Christians don't believe so. The final conclusion here is that USA is mainly against homosexuality. Until Atheism and whatever becomes bigger and more of society than it already homosexuality will be shunned upon.

I think it's more of the older generation keeping to their conservative values. It's not just the older generation either though, they have obviously passed on their views upon their children, so it's not just that all the old people will die than gays will get the rights they deserve. It's more that there should be a gradual shift. I know that some older people that are from the original Beatles free love days aren't that picky about gays at all. They're pretty cool with it. It's more a matter of upbringing that leads to these innate prejudices against gays.

People that isolate themselves and stay away from gays are usually the ones that end up fearing and hating them for no really good reason. They never get to know them and realize that they are just as nice and intelligent than anyone else. And usually a whole lot cleaner o_O.

I use to be pretty dam homophobic until I left my old Christian school and met other people in the real world. Reality has different shades depending what type of glasses you choose to wear.
