Health care as in you are insured for bad shit. Thus if you get int oa car accident you don't have to be scared about the costs no matter what.

Education, well in some countries you still have to pay ALOT for further education.

Environmentally conscious, well .. untill you go to Sweden you won't know what the phrase means. It's beautiful there.

And well, not many countries have gun control at all. And well, the lack of gun related deaths in Sweden just shows that it isn't guns who kill people ... it's people who kill people.

While am sure Obama winning is and will probably turn out for the best, one thing
that is starting to grat me is the ammount of support from people in the UK that he
seems to be getting. I mean dont get me wrong, it will affect us (UK) and the rest of
the world depending on his (Obama's) reaction to certain circumstances...but it would
just be nice if all these people who are cheering of Obama could pay a bit more
attention to our own political scene. I mean lets face it, if this was an election
between two white men do you really think that 131 million Americans would of voted?
and if it takes the issue of race and skin colour of make people vote...then it really
is a sad day when people cannot be bothered voting unless it is for someone who is
different from the other candidate (i.e ethnic origin) rather then their policies.

Also as for the people talking about socialism, well as a member of the SWP in the UK
(Socialist Workers Party) i can say that not all the ideas of socialism works, its
why most governments that employ a democratic socialist work well as it combines elements
of the socialist ideals and the democratic ideals. But in the long run i think
that a socialist system is better in terms of support the people regulating state
controlled industrties

also to all those Americans out there...you all do realise that to solve this
recent finacial probelm you just copyed Gorden Brown's (British PM) idea of taking
the banks and nationalizing them, thats right the first thing the Americans ever
nationalize and its the banks, you cant get any more socialist or "left" then
nationalizing the banks, i.e taking majority control away from the banks and placing
it directly under government control. (most simplistic view)

I see what you're saying, however if you don't pay for Health Cover in the USA and you say.. break your arm? It costs money to have it fixed. Here (Australia) it's all free (Never broken a bone -.-), Some doctors Bulk Bill etc.

Education, Australia has free Public School and Private Schools, most attend a Pub. School, and small amount attend Private School (Can cost between 10-30 grand per year - depending on where).

Environment - I'm sure Sweden is Beautiful, but a lot of other countries are too. Italy, France, Canada, Ireland, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and the list goes on. Most of which are somewhat Environmentally conscious and like to protect it. I know here in Australia, we protect our national icons, amongst other things. We even take on International issues where the environment is in jeopardy. (Think I'm going a bit offtopic here =D).

Gun control, Can't find the exact statistics, but many more Americans die due to Gun related deaths per million than in Australia, amongst other countries. I think in some states (Arizona is it? Where you can walk down a street with a gun?) the gun laws are too little. Though it would more than likely be more comfortable knowing you have the right to bare arms, other people are also allowed guns giving them the same firepower as you.

I see where you are coming from, and would like to visit Sweden as well as other European countries which I haven't been to yet.

You do realize the president isn't a king, right? A president that made the promises McCain/Obama made cannot possibly keep them. I want you all to compare Clinton/Obama's Universal Health Care plan to Mussolini's. You will find a striking resemblance. We already have socialism and it isn't working for us. Why is it when regulations fail our government thinks more regulations are necessary. Take advice from Stockholm's privatized medicine; the federal government should get out of the health care business and let doctors deal with their patients on an individual basis.
