if you are in high school or college, it doesn't matter if she is in a relationship(unless the guy is a neanderthal and can seriously hurt you). the best thing to do is to grow a set and just ask her out. it is the "mature" way of going about it (chicks dig that kind of adult shit) and it saves you the effort of playing "telephone" with her friends, which also runs the risk of her finding out and clowning you for not just asking her in the first place.
