Ya i understand what you mean. Gradually go down and it slows you down.. thats the point i was trying to say to dumbodii.

But go fast, and suddenly drop down to 1st or 2nd and your engine will over rev, and will end up blowing up your engine.

Oo! You guys must drive some pretty old cars. For one all cars now days have rev limiters so that you cannot over rev them. Shifting the transmission from 3rd to 1st(is possible if you're strong and fast enough) will only drop your transmission on the ground if your car is heavy enough not to just lock the tires up. Which is a technique used by some drifters. As well... The best thing to do on ice is exactly what they say, let off the gas. Once you've lost control you aren't going to gain control of your car on ice, putting it in a lower gear won't do anything, and depending on your speed, may make it worse.

the only thing to do on ice is neutral it and allow your self to slow, while trying to gently persuade the wheels straight.

My mom & I drive a lot better than most of the men I know...but my sister is a horrible driver. Probably has something to do with the fact that she's addicted to her iphone and looks at it more than the road...I guess 2/3 isn't bad. :]

And I've never tried manual, not because I don't want to, I'm sure it would be good to learn sometime. I've just never thought of learning when I have a chance.

Kind of. You are not REALLY washing them when you use washing machine.

But seriously using automatic doesn't really require any skills. Just think about it. Using steering wheel is not a skill and you dont's need to be driver to know the rules of the road.

Just saying.

Driving a manual isn't much of a skill... It's about as complicated as driving a bicycle with some gears. It's just that bikes generally have more gears.

So your saying driving a automatic car requires the same skill as riding a bike without gears?

if your comment was REALLY TRUE then there would be no need for driving schools, permits or licenses.

When learning to drive a stick shift, the first lesson starts off with the instructor shifting gears. You basicly just have to steer and push the gas and break.
They basicly asume every morron can atleast do that xD

The most difficult part is ofcource knowing the rules on the road and developing good natural responses in a car (Aka, when some morron decides to back out of his carport, straight onto the road in front of your car- you should automaticly just hit the breaks, etc.)

Learning to drive a stick shift, when you can allreaddy drive an automatic, really shouldn't take more than a few hours >.<

On both all you gotta do is pedal/give gas, watch the road/traffic and steer so I'd say they're pretty similar. Ofcourse a car is far more dangerous cuz it can do a shitload more dmg.

Well, bike is a bit harder since you have to keep it in balance due to having only two tires. Besides bikes tend to have rear wheel drives, which affects the driving properties, especially when the roads are icy.

Either you guys are extremely bad drivers or you cant even drive. I cant believe some of the things you say.

There is a lot more to think about when driving than riding a bike. If you think otherwise, your not safe and you shouldnt be on the roads. You're going to end up killing someone.

You know, I drive kind of lot with both car and bike, and I've not crashed with car but I've fallen over with a bike a couple of times.

I can drive a car and I know perfectly fine how to drive well. I still don't see alot of difference between them, besides again the size of the machine you're controlling and possible damage you can inflict.

Well there are things that have to be learned. Rules for sure, no matter how often you sit next to someone who's driving a car there will be rules or road signs you don't know. Also you have to learn how to judge situations and learn to look around. Permits/licenses are there to keep track of people on the road =p
